Chapter 3-Search-Alia

My eyes opened wide as Ryan led me by hand off the uncomfortable golf cart onto the dirt road nearing a wide expanse of trees and a farm. I smiled as I realized it was a small coffee shop Ryan had probably found just for us. I wiped my eyes from the last of the tears from the ride up and I beamed at Ryan again, showing the gratitude through my eyes. I turned to look at Tasha when  I saw her gasp, her eyes going all blurry.

"Ta..." I began her name to ask her what was wrong when I saw her long legs sprint toward the trees, her long body wracked

I sprinted towards her, hoping to catch her before she got lost but her legs and strength were no match for mine. Ryan shot ahead of me, and I glimpsed Tasha's shirt as she darted farther. Then I called for her and a branch hit me painfully in the face knocking me down and skinning my back where the shirt had come up. Ryan looked over at me and I told him to go on, but that was enough time for Tasha. Ryan came back minutes later, sadness crossing his face.

"She's gone." He lamented.

"I knew she would be." I said, on the verge of tears again, but not for me for her

Ryan sat down next to me the world of the forest surrounding me and him. Then after a long time, Ryan got up and sighed sadly. I could tell he blamed himself for Tasha running away.

"It's not your fault." I said "It's mine. I told her to come home; I'm such a selfish dumb-o."

"No, it's both of us, we're horrible friends." He laughed softly.

"Yeah" I agreed "Now, lets go."

He got up and offered me his hand and we started in the direction we suspected Tasha to have gone. I frowned as the forest got darker and darker.

"Wrong way," I said, "she hates the darkness."

Ryan sighed like he was about to keel over and die.

"If we run we can go faster and get to Tasha faster." I said, looking at the pink slowly setting sun.

"Faster is better!" He said.

Then he whipped me off the ground unexpectedly, running as fast as he could. He avoided the sore and bruised spot on my lower back. He ran for about five minutes before we spotted light through the trees. He set me down gently and walked out of the trees. I followed behind and spotted a big barn and a farm. We walked into the farm and we knocked on the little cabin door on the side. A short stout man with gray hair and a big belly, he looked surprised to see us.

"Um... hello, may I help you?" He said.

"Hello, we are looking for a girl." I said.

"All that is here is me and my wife." He said, but Ryan looked at him funny.

"Mister, my friend here is a little delusional, can you please take care of her while I go and fix my... uh... car." Ryan said "and I will work for your care, I grew up in Kansas."

Of course most of that statement was a lie. I wasn't delusional, he rode up in a golf cart and he grew up here, in Las Vegas.

"Sure, come in and lie down miss." He said, pushing me into his home. I frowned when Ryan waved at me and ran to the 'car.' The lady, probably the guy's wife, came up to me.

"Hello" she said "I'm Jill and over there is my husband Nicolai."

"Hello..." I said, trying to sound dazed and delusional.
