Start from the beginning

Thankful he only shifted slightly in response.

"So I take it that it's sensitive topic." She said sarcastically.

"Trust Alyssa, I want to tell you more than anyone—but I can't." I said exhaustedly.

"Just like you couldn't tell me who he really was in the beginning." She spoke.

I didn't respond since technically, she was right.

"Josh, all I'm saying is—I wish you'd put yourself first for once...that's all."

With that she left the topic alone, "you hungry?" She asked as she stood up.

"No I'm fine." I shook my head.

"When's the last time you ate?" She asked.

I thought to myself but couldn't even come up with my own answer, I literally didn't remember.

She shook her head before speaking, "I'm gonna bring you something back."

A few moments after she left one of Javiers nurses walked in.

"You're still here Mr.Hoseok?" She asked concerned as she walked over to the computer.

"Yeah—don't wanna just leave him here alone?" I responded

"understandable," she nodded as she walked over to him.

His eyes fluttered open when she got close, I noticed he was a really light sleeper—probably had something to do with his rough past.

"Good Morning," she said with a chuckle

He gave her a timid smile in response before sitting upright.

"I'm just gonna check your wound to see how it's healing." She explained.

"You've done a complete turn around from yesterday which is great—most people would be down an out still today but your healing quite fine." She continued.

"So I can go home now?" He asked anxiously.

She again chuckled, "not quite—but Doctor Baker has assured us that you're healthy enough to leave tomorrow, and as far as I can see you're doing fine."

A cheesy smile covered his face causing us both to laugh in response.

As the nurse made her way over to me I wiped the sleep from my drowsy eyes before speaking.

"Later I'll come by and bring you some ointment which'll need yo be applied to his incision every couple of hours once you two go home, Ill also give you a booklet which will most likely handle any questions you have but of course you are free to call. "

After a few more minutes she left leaving just Javier and I alone.

"You should get some sleep," Javier spoke.

"I'll get sleep when we're out of here and I know you're safe." I chuckled.

"Coach would want you to get some sleep," he said with a smug smirk.

" 'Coach' would also want you to be safe." I replied with my own smug smirk.

"speaking of, where is he?" He asked with a contorted face.

I cringed to myself knowing he'd probably ask that sooner or later.

"He'll be back in two weeks, he has a commitment." I said, explaining best I could.

"oh,"He responded simply, almost like he was thinking to himself.

He shifted himself with a grunt so that he could reach the remote.

"Careful," I warned standing up, "you shouldn't move so much fresh out of surgery,"

"my bad," he responded and grabbed the remote from my hand.

I waved him off with a chuckle before going back over to the couch.

I grabbed my phone and called Doctor Bakers personal number he'd gave me earlier.

"Joshua?" He answered in a questioning tone.

"Yeah sorry about this but I was just thinking, I have these papers at home of Javiers Birth father signing over his rights to me and Clarence. Now they're are a little iffy but I was just wondering if that could help with the process at all." I explained—followed by a long yawn.

"I'm sure they'll aid in some way—make sure to bring them, our first meeting should be at your house when Javier comes home with you. My wife already knows the situation and she's 100 % in." He spoke.

"Great, thanks." I said sincerely before hanging up.

Finally it felt like I had a moment to sleep—a moment to rest after what felt like an eternity.
