Carlisle POV:

I never thought I would want to leave my mate, my Aro. Yet, I still had so much to learn about myself. He had taught me more about vampires than I could have imagined, opening doors to a world I barely understood. But I needed to see the wider world, to know whether the life I had with him was the life I truly wanted.

When Aro and I first met, I believed it was sinful to love man. my father, a pastor, had drilled into me that one could be smitten for such desires. I hid who I was.. until I met Aro. no matter how I tried, I couldn't fight the undeniable truth: he was my mate, my kind, my everything. I avoided being alone with him at first, fearful and ashamed, but overtime he broke down my walls. Eventually, I gave myself fully to him, and we became intimate. he was my anchor.

And yet.. I felt trapped. I loved the castle, the guards, Aro's brothers who served alongside him. I loved Aro. But I felt suffocated. My life in Volterra felt predetermined, a cage gilded with immortality. I hated drinking from humans, hated the way our life demanded what I could no longer reconcile with my conscience. I longed for freedom, for the taste of the world beyond the castle walls.

So I left. Quietly. I packed what little I had, slipping away while the family fed, and began the life I had always dreamed of. The pain of leaving him only grew with each step, a pull I could not ignore, but could not resist either.

I built my family as a distraction..my children, my first coven: Edward first, then Esme and Rosalie, Emmett, and later Alice and Jasper. I loved them, and yet no one could replace the bond I shared with Aro. The more love I gave, he more I hoped it would dull the ache of leaving, but it never did.

Edward did try to draw me into a relationship, and I wanted to give myself fully, but I couldn't. My heart, my soul, still belonged to Aro. I reached out to Marcus occasionally, seeking counsel, yet always returned to my family, moving us to Forks, Washington, hoping that this life was the right one. But I longed for my mate, and I clung to the hope that he might forgive my indiscretions.

Then Bella came. Edward brought her into our lives, and jealousy flared. I hated that she held his attention and yet.. I could not deny her intelligence and kindness. Eventually, I grew found of her, but I still feared the consequences if Aro were ever to discover her, or how her existence might disrupt the fragile balance I had tried to maintain.

Aro's POV:

Being ruler of the vampires had never been simple. Centuries of watching empires rise and fall left their mark. Even with brothers, friends, and the most loyal guards at my side, I had never known true happiness until Carlisle.

He had been green behind the ears, shunning our love due to his upbringing and faith. I waited, wooed, and loved him through it all, until finally, he gave himself to me. he was my mate, my heart, my anchor. And to then.. he left.

I let him go, hoping he would himself. But when he did, he built a family, a coven of his own. He created life while turning his back on the one he had belonged too. I sobbed tear-less tears, curled in my wing, dead to the world for years. And now, Felix recovered a human tortured by one of Carlisle's creations. Marcus confirmed that Bella Swan had been brought into the equation. My mate had overstepped again.

It was time. so I wrote a letter, formal and cold:

My Dear Carlisle,

While I miss you everyday, this is not a letter begging you to return. this is a summons. Felix discovered your human, Isabella Swan, in danger at the hands of one of your own. The redhead has been dealt with, but your family and this human must answer to Volterra. Alec and Demetri will come for you in one week. Prepare yourself. My mate, it is time to return home.

Aro

I handed the letter to Demetri. "Go. Post this to Cullens. Carlisle and his new family have made a grave error. They will be dealt with." I said with pain in my voice. "I will be sending you and Alec there in a week to retrieve them. Go now and Prepare. my mate is coming home." My voice sounding stronger by the end.

I fed for the first time in a long time, the feeling of control returning. Carlisle was coming back like it or not. and though I would allow him to keep his animal diet, he would not escape the consequences of his choices. He was in deep trouble and I was ready to Punish him. Hopefully he would love me through it.
