"There goes my heart beating
'Cause you are the reason
I'm losing my sleep
Please come back now

There goes my mind racing
And you are the reason
That I'm still breathing
I'm hopeless now"

My head hangs over the edge of the bed, my light brown hair reaching the ground in a mess of curls. I could hear the training happening in the fields. The grunts as the warriors are hit with blunt force. My brother had taken over as head warrior, and he was amazing at it. Everybody could see the difference in the physique of the warriors, as well as the overall skillset of the pack.

My brother had huge goals for this pack, he wanted to start training the females with the males. Preventing a fatal attack on the pack, he believed that all pack members should be able to fight off potential danger. I agreed wholeheartedly.

My days were long now, seeing as I finish my duties during the morning. I always swing by the daycare where all the young pups hang out during the daytime after I finish. It's always the peak of my days.

Most wolves feel the need to procreate, and I find myself thinking of my own pups that I'll have in the future. I always joked with my brother that if I was able to have children without a mate I would. He would always glare at me, he never understood my need to not find my mate. Hypocrite.

My only non-mated friend, Mason was finishing off his training session shortly. I felt myself feeling antsy to get out of here. Mason is the currents Beta's youngest son, yet he looks older than his age. His blue eyes were always playful, which was a stark contrast to his hulk-like physique.

We have been friends since we were in primary school, seeing as our pack attends the local human schools. Which was different than most packs in our area. Alpha Thompson believed that we should learn to coincide with humans at an early age.

He had attached himself to me the moment that we were in the same class together. We had seen each other during pack activities, but my grandparents had always limited my interactions with fellow pack mates. Afraid that I would get bullied due to being the outcome of a non-destined bond.

He had noticed me, unlike many in that class. I can still remember his cheeky smile as he approached my desk. He was always happy, still to this day I find it irritating how positive he is all of the time. He had plopped himself down in the chair beside me and stretched his hand out.

His eyes held warmth that I haven't seen directed at me before, people typically strayed away from me. It caused my young self to become overjoyed. The thought of somebody wanting to be my friend had never crossed my mind before that day.

"Hi, I'm Mason. Logan right?" He asked, even though he already knew who I was. Everybody did.

"Um, yeah that's me. Hi." I whispered towards him, ducking my head so my curls covered my face. My face warmed with a strong blush, causing me to feel severely embarrassed.

"Your grandfather is such a badass. My father says that he can defeat any wolf in the pack!" He whispered towards me, keeping in mind that there are humans in the room. That is how he had caused me to smile, my grandfather at that point was my favorite person. He had treated me like a princess and had given me anything that I have ever wanted.

"Yeah, he really is. I like watching him spar." I told him, slightly louder than last time.

"I've seen you in the crowds, the only girl our age there." he joked. His blond hair falls into his eyes as he nods.

The class had started shortly after that, but the boy had approached me at lunch period and sat beside me. He grabbed onto my lunchbox and took the muffin that my grandmother had baked the day before. I tried to protest but he had already popped a piece into his mouth, a bright smile on his face.

That moment on, he wouldn't stop hanging out around me. I had expected him to only be friendly towards me at school, but it had extended into pack life as well. He had been my only supporter and had defended me from many of the pack's bullies.

I was told by my grandmother that most of the children were afraid of my strength. Seeing as I was a beta born female.
