Will

The last day of school came on them and Will was really excited at its prospects as it meant that he would then have the whole of the summer to himself, for him to do what he will and it was going to be a lot of fun. It also meant that Arnold could come hang out after school which was a good prospect as he wanted to spend more time with his new-found friend and see what he did for fun. After a quick breakfast and kissing his mom goodbye, Will hurried to school and met his friends along the way, they discussed their plans for that day as well of adventures they could do over the summer. Arnold was waiting for them in the playground when they got to school and happily greeted them as they came in, he joined the discussion and hoped that he would have some free time over the summer to come and play with them, but he knew that he would be expected to help in the shop over the summer and he told them as much. They said they were sure that he wasn't going to be needed every day of the summer in the shop and to talk over it with his parents when he got back tonight to see what would be needed of him and he agreed.

The bell rung, they went into the first lesson of the day, the teacher had them do a fun art project all that morning for both lessons and said they would be something different after the break so if they didn't finish what they worked on they could take it home and finish it there. Will did a cool drawing of Indiana Jones and the teacher complimented him on it. The break was quite fun as a whole bunch of them played hide and seek, Arnold wasn't very good at it as he didn't know any of the good hiding spots, but he still seemed to enjoy himself which was good. When they went in to class the teacher had them pair up again as they were going to be an experiment with batteries and lights, Will paired up with Arnold which made the teacher surprised but also smile as he liked students making friends, it did mean that Greg had to pair up with someone new and that was Tiffany, one of the least popular girls in class but he seemed happy enough to be working with and didn't complain at all. The experiment went well and after they did it, he explained about it and how it related to their lives at home as electricity was everywhere. The bell rung, Will left with the others to go to lunch, it was an ok lunch today of meatballs and Will ate it quickly so that he'd have more time to play with his friends. They had a game of marbles first and he let Arnold borrow some of his and he did ok with them and then they had a game of tag which lasted until the bell rang. For the last lesson of the day the teacher told them a story from one of the books that he had in his draw, it was a cool story and then he had them discuss the meaning of it and what lessons could be learnt from it. The last bell sounded, and the kids streamed out of class, screaming with happiness as they had the summer to enjoy to themselves. Will and his friends gathered outside the school and all looked at each other and smiled.

"What's the plan?" Jason asked.

"Well, I've got a few quarters in my pocket and figured we take Arnold to the delights of the arcade as he said he's never been," Will said.

"What, never been to an arcade, we definitely have to change that," Jason said outraged.

"It's true, I've walked past it a couple of times but never went in it, never had money to" Arnold replied a little sad.

"Well that's about to change, come on boys, to the arcade," Will said and they followed him as he led the way to the arcade. When they entered it, he heard Arnold gasp at all the machines inside and smiled.

"There is a lot of choices here that's for sure," Will said.

"I don't know where to start," Arnold said.

"We'll start you off with one of the better ones, in my opinion, Donkey Kong," Will said and pointed out a machine on the left-hand side. It was a very simple machine with one joystick and two buttons, the graphics on the screen were ok and Will saw that Arnold was very interested in it. "It's a very simple game to play, your goal is to get that little red man over the barrels and up the ladders to where the monkey is, there's a damsel in distress there for you to rescue" Will explained.
