First Kiss

It was the start of autumn when I met Julia Flynn. We met at a party from a mutual friend and she was very cute.

Not the cute kind with girly stuff and being sweet and nice. But the twinkle in her eyes, her excitement and the way she was present, like she deserved to be there with all of her 5 ft 1.

I had a very nice time talking to her, she was a writer and the way she spoke about writing and telling a story inspired me to write my own play.

In the week after we started talking through text about everything and nothing. I wanted to get to know her since she now was a character in my to be written play. And she seemed to be interested in me as well.

We were so similar it was nearly scary, from little nothings like a favourite colour to the way we think about relationships or romance.

Only a week after the party which is now a week ago, I told her I liked her. And she did too, and now we're here. Laying in the grass under a red-leafed tree after our very first date.

"We should go, I should go, I still have to work." She said breaking the comfortable silence that had been hanging between the two of us.

I opened my eyes and tore them from the sky to look at her. At her eyes and nose and lips, lips that had actually said "I like you," like her fingers had typed before, like she promised to day the moment her fingers typed it.

"We really should," I said with a sigh, but I didn't move an inch. Only my eyes moved while looking into her own brown orbs.

Then she made the decision and sat up, so I followed her just to be able to see her face again. We have been talking every minute since I set foot on the station. I didn't mind the silence and inspecting each other now.

I smiled at her and took her hand pulling her up with me as I went to stand fully on my own two legs.

She sighed and instead of walking towards the bike we shared, she hugged me and I happily returned the embrace. "I had a nice time with you," she said against my shoulder and my smile widened.

"I'm glad you texted me, I'm glad I got to know you and that you exist." I told her and I felt her tightening her grip on me before she looked up in my eyes.

"I really like you," she said with a slight blush staining her cheeks, and I couldn't help but tease her.

"Really? That wasn't obvious at all." And received a smack against my chest, but she let her hand rest there.

"Well, I really like you too," I said while looking her straight into her eyes. I saw the little twinkle that I liked so much, the little bit of green in between the warm brown. I wondered what she saw when she was looking into my eyes, hopefully the same as I saw in hers.

I lifter my hand from her back and lifted her chin a little. Without breaking the skin contact I put my hand just behind her ear and focused on her lips.

Then I looked back into her eyes, my intention very clear and when she didn't give any sign of rejection I slowly leaned in until my lips touched hers.

It was clear that this was her very first kiss, she was shy and probably didn't quite know what to do, so I gently took the lead and enjoyed every second of it.

Not too soon and not too late I broke the kiss and looked at her with a wide and bright smile. She smiled as well but avoided my eyes and put her head against my chest.

"Sorry, I was probably very bad." She said with a little chuckle. I just played with a little strand of hair with a smile.

"You just need practice, lucky for you I am very willing to teach you." I said making us both laugh and I pressed a quick kiss on the top of her head.

"Come on, we should really go now." I said not wanting her to be too late. I was sure to see her soon. She nodded and we walked towards her bike. I didn't bring one since I was with the train.

She was sitting on the back as I cycled and enjoyed the feeling of her arms around my waist as we talked about some lighter stuff.

I still smile as I think about that first date of ours, but I smile even wider when I realise she really is my girlfriend now. And if that's even possible, my smile is widest when I think about how it will be better with every day.
