The gems all sat in the living room, your gem on the center of the table. The gems all sat on the carpet, much to their discomfort.
Garnet uncrossed her legs and put her hands on her thighs, aiding with pushing herself to a standing position. "We can't sit and watch her all day, we've got other things to do." She walked back to the room stoically, trying to hide her sadness that their new friend had been both poofed, and cracked.
Once Garnet got to her room, she knelt onto one knee and grunted, holding her head. Her body glowed a bright white and she split into two, sending two bodies in different directions.
The light blue gem continued holding her head while the red gem gasped, seeing her other half in pain.
"Sapphire!" She called, a note of sadness in her cry.
"I-I don't understand. This wasn't- it shouldn't have... this isn't the future I saw." Sapphire turned to her other half, tears running from her one eye. "I must be defective or something I-"
Ruby hugged sapphire "Don't you ever say that about yourself." She held Sapphire's face in her hand. "Tell me, what did you see?"
She sniffled lightly and wiped her face. "I-I saw her run toward him, she pushed him out of the way, but Pearl made it there in time to stop her hologram..."
"Well that's not so different, just a bit off." Ruby held Sapphire closer "It's okay, I'm sure it was just a... misreading. An unfortunate event."
Sapphire smiled and kissed Ruby's forehead. "Thanks, Ruby."
They both let out stifled giggles, eventually breaking out into a laugh. Ruby grabbed Sapphire's waist and Ruby spun around her other half. Both of them glowed white and reformed into Garnet. She looked at her hands, reassured and ready to speak with the others about what to do.
When Garnet walked back out, only Pearl was there. Pearl was holding your gem ever so lightly, sliding her thumb across its rough surface. Garnet cleared her throat, making Pearl jump.
"Oh, Garnet." She placed the gem back on the table. "Steven went out with Amethyst. They're up by the lighthouse." There was a sudden loud thunk followed by a screeching.
"AMETHYST!"
Pearl and Garnet immediately ran to the shore, and sure enough Amethyst was casually standing next to Steven, her hand on her hip and hair covering her left eye.
"What happened? We rushed out here as soon as we heard you scream!" Pearl fretted.
Amethyst blew it off with the wave of her hand.
"Oh yeah, we're fine. Except for this." She finished her sentence hastily, flipping her hair up to reveal her now enlarged left eye. Pearl gasped in horror.
"Amethyst! Let me see your gem!" She attempted to pull down Amethyst's shirt, resulting in Amethyst slapping Pearl's hand away.
"Ugh, alright fine."
She pulled down her shirt to reveal a large crack across her gem.
"B-But it's alright! I mean, I've got this totally cool googly eye now-" She laughed while whipping her head around to roll the eyeball. Pearl snapped her fingers as she had a sudden realization. "Steven, Rose had healing tears! Maybe you do too."
They went through an entire process of Steven staring directly at Amethyst's gem, attempting to cry on it - but found it was of no use.
"Well, I guess I don't have healing tears like Mom..." he sighed.
"Well, at least it can get any worse," Pearl tried to comfort Steven.
Amethyst started to twitch, and her image began to glitch. She sat upright after a few moments and inhaled deeply. When she spoke again it was in gibberish- almost sound like a rewound recording.
Garnet gasped. "That's it," she concluded "we need to go to roses healing fountain. There, we can heal Amethyst. I can't believe I didn't think of this before. We can heal Y/N as well."
Steven smiled, happy that he could help his two injured friends in some way.
The gems and Steven made their way back to the house so they could warp to Rose's healing garden. They entered the house and Garnet gingerly picked up your gem. The gems then stepped onto the warp pad and went to the garden.
They resurfaced in a dark open area- it was surrounded by bramble and bushes. Spiky vines surrounded the area like a dome.
Immediately Pearl was terrified by the sight. "Something's off, these vines shouldn't be here," she fretted.
They peered into the fountain and noticed it was empty. They decided to go on a small mission. Pearl and Garnet looked for a way to the fountains water supply while Steven and Amethyst stayed back. Amethyst continued on in her backward tone attempting to speak to Steven.
"I can't understand you," he murmured. "How can I cry if there's nothing sad? Sure, it's sad to think about mom... but how can I cry about her if I didn't even know her?"
He huffed, glancing at Amethyst. She imitated falling down, then proceeded to pretend cry like a baby.
"Pain." Steven said darkly, "Pain induces crying, but where can I find..." he trailed off looking at the spiked vines surrounding him.
"Oh...right."
He walked up to them and began to reach for them with his eyes closed. Miraculously, so did they- Amethyst, being the only one to see it, jumped at Steven pushing him out of the way. They rolled off to the side away from the vines.
Garnet and Pearl walked back in as Pearl, obviously irked, scolded Amethyst. "Enough messing around! You might hurt yourself more."
Amethyst got up and mocked Pearl in a backwards tone, then she turned around while walking and walked straight into a rock. She fell on her back as her gems crack extended further.
Pearl covered her mouth, muffling her squeal and Steven winced.
"Oh, right in the gem." He clutched his own, wincing.
Garnet moved a rock closer to her and kicked it through the bramble onto an opening on the other side. "Oh yeah, that's fine! Just kick a giant rock through one of Roses most important sanctuaries. It'll be fine!" She laughed nervously. Garnet went through the vines and Pearl followed suite.
Steven still continued for a while to make himself cry, and bit after bit, the fountain's water came back on. Steven grew excited, moments later Pearl and Garnet entered.
"I did it!" Steven squealed, "I turned on the fountain with my gem!"
Pearl looked at him, confused, "Oh no, Steven, I unblocked the water, the vines were simply trapping the flow in the pipes." She ruffled his hair, leaving him behind, a bit torn but still happy to be getting his friends fixed. Amethyst ran and tackled Steven into the water, when she resurfaced her gem was healed as well as her face.
"Alright!" she laughed, happy that her speech was fixed.
Garnet unclenched her hand to see your gem,and everyone crowded around her to see if your gem was still okay. Garnet walked over and knelt by the pool of water. She began to dip her hands lower toward the water- suddenly Steven grabbed her hands. "Is it okay if-" she handed it to him, knowing he would ask for the honors. He smiled and cupped his hands around the stone. He bent his waist over the edge of the fountain and and dipped you in. He sat staring into the translucent water for several minutes before pearl exasperatedly called out "Well?" Steven retracted his hands, they were hidden behind his small form. He turned toward the gems to show them your stone... still cracked... still poofed. Pearl held back a chocked sob as garnet brought the back of her hand to her mouth. Amethyst just stared, brokenheartedly. "I- I don't understand." She stated. "I healed. Where's Y/N?!"
They all stared at your gem in wonder... it
was a good question.
Where was Y/N?...
