The sun was out and it would have been a very pleasant day, had your life been the same. You had always loved the fields in front of your friend Winry's house and you would have been very happy to see her again, had the circumstances been better.

"Come on, my dear," Pinako held your hand and walked you towards her house.

"(Y/N)!" Winry shouted, running towards you with full speed.

You let go off Pinako's hand, "Winry!"

The ten-year old you ran towards Winry - who was a dear family friend - and engulfed her in a tight bear hug.

Pulling away, she grabbed your hand and looked at you with tears in her eyes, "It has been so long! I wish you lived nearby so I could have hugged you and helped you when-"

You nodded, sniffling.

"I'm really sorry about your loss, (Y/N)."

You began to cry, "Winry. I miss them."

She pulled you into a tight embrace, "I'm sorry, my dear (Y/N). It will be okay."

Pinako had finally caught up.

She gently ruffled your hair, "You, too, are my grandchild from now, (Y/N). Your parents played with Winry's and you with Winry."

You nodded, remembering the pictures of your parents and Winry's parents. They had been best friends. Just like the two of you. But all four of them were gone now. Dead-

Your eyes filled up with tears again, "Thank you, grandma."

Winry held your hand in hers.

"Winry and I are also your family. We will care for you. Come on, dear," Pinako ushered the both of you inside.

You had always wanted to live with Winry and Pinako ever since you were a baby. Your parents had always been busy helping people and you used to feel lonely very often and Winry's house always seemed to be full of fun and an ideal home.

But what you hadn't known and never wanted had occured. Life was cruel. You would be living with Winry now but you had no parents anymore. They were gone. Dead. Who knew your wish of living with her would come true under such dark and cruel circumstances-

Winry interrupted your thoughts, "Ed and Al also live with us now!"

You raised your eyebrows, a smile forming on your lips, "Really?"

Winry's face darkened and she told you about the ordeal that the Elric brothers had faced.

Your smile dropped and your heart fell.

Life was cruel, truly.

"Ed! Al! Look who's here!"

"(Y/N)!"

"Al! I am so glad you're okay!" You exclaimed, wrapping your arms around his new body of armour.

"I have a new body now," he mumbled, his voice very small.

"It's okay. At least you're okay," you sniffled. Everything was making you cry.

"Hi Ed," you smiled at the shorter of the two brothers. "Your automail looks really cool."

He gave you his signature smirk, "With this I can perform much better. But I will get Al's body and also mine back!"
