As a weighted curtain bids farewell from a play
Signaling the onlookers of their cue
To applaud the performance
And pay such dues
The same may be said of my very own heart
When the curtain drapes over my display
Of outwardly joy and appearing okay
Time to walk away from all the lights
And carefully crafted stage
Reluctantly I part ways from a character
Resuming myself
Along with the grief and misery I once felt
As faithfully an audience praises an act
Providing them with a fantastical retreat
Too soon my depression is willing to rise upon its feet
Greeting me at the very edge of my stage
Where my imaginary world temporarily keeps it at bay
