Daria's POV

I looked around my room. Which I also called my safe haven. I had personally installed a lock on the door. Stay safe. Words that forever called in my head, stay safe. As if I could much more.

I went to my small desk. I opened the drawer pulling out a small hand held mirror. I looked at myself. My messy bed head of blonde hair. My hair is long, it goes to my bellybutton. I also spied a new bruise on my left cheek. I touched it and it stung.

Trevor hits hard. My baby blue eyes started to water up. Yet I swallowed the lump in the back of my throat, and didn't cry. I began to brush my hair.

I slowly looked at myself in the mirror. Wishing that the bruise would disappear. Like magic, yet I knew it wouldn't. So I pulled foundation out of the drawer. I slowly applied it to the bruise, ignoring the stinging.

I looked at the mirror again. Like magic, poof, bruise is gone. I smiled at my silliness yet with Trevor I had gotten used to covering up bruises.

I sighed going to my closet. Gosh I hate Trevor. I slowly dragged out a long sleeve black shirt and regular blue jeans. I changed and looked at my room.

I didn't have much. My worn out twin bed and desk. My closet only had clothes my friends had given me. Trevor doesn't see a point in spending money on me. To him I'm only a punching bag. I slipped on my black combat boots.

I looked at my backpack right beside the door. I picked it up and left my room. I snuck through the halls to the front door. I began walking to school. I'm seventeen and a senior.

School is my only hope to leave Trevor. I'm working so hard trying to get into college. College, it's like another safe haven. But it's completely away from that house.

I walked and saw the school in the distance. I have free lunch at school, so it's my only meal. Unless one of my friends share snacks with me during the school day.

Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don't. It just depends. I'm 5"0 so I'm supposed to be little. Yet I'm only 100lbs exactly. Thanks so much gym!

I looked at my hands and saw they were dirty. I'd wash them at school.

-----
I got into the bathroom and started washing my hands. Soon a bubbly black haired girl came bursting in. Her long hair up in a high ponytail.

Her lime green eyes looking at mine excitedly. At 5"6 she's naturally a lot taller. Wearing grey sweat pants, a black t-shirt and black tennis shoes. Maddie is one of my best friends. I could tell it made her happy.

"Soccer went so well! I scored 5 goals and we won!" She practically squealed. I dried my hands while smiling at her. Maddie always does something. Soccer in the fall, weightlifting in the winter, Basketball in the spring, and running in the summer. How she doesn't overkill herself I don't know.

"That's great Maddie." I told her. Her smile got wider, "You should come to one of my games." I tried to think, "I'm sorry Maddie I always have lots of chores and errands. Yet I'll see about it." Her smile was still bright.

I know I can't. Trevor would never let me do such a thing. To him I need to be a lone wolf and leave everything alone. I don't even own a phone because of him.

I left the bathroom with Maddie on my tail. Maddie got lots of looks. She's the schools star female athlete. More like athlete at all. She is really pretty and sporty. I know guys like her.

Maddie then turned a corner heading off to her locker. I went to English and sat in the front. Right beside my other best friend Olivia. Olivia had her curly red hair down. Her short bob cut showing it off. Her chocolate brown eyes are very pretty. At 5"3 she's closer to my height.

Olivia was the leader of the schools drama club. She always plays the leading female role. Except one where she played the leading make role, as a freshman.

Olivia smiled at me and I nodded to her. She had a script on her desk. She's reading it like her life depends on it. I smiled and even though I wanted to start laughing I didn't.

-----
At lunch a sat down in the far corner of the lunch room. The schools rude cause they put Olivia and Maddie in the opposite lunch period of me. Without those too I was alone.

Just like Trevor wants it. I munched on the school food. Then I looked up when someone slammed their hand onto the table.

I looked up. I then rolled my eyes. He looked at me with his brown eyes. I noticed he had black hair. I stared at his face. "Yes?" I asked him.

"Um I really like you. Please go out with me." He said. I looked at him, "No." He looked at me glaring hard. "Um let me rephrase that. You are going to become my girlfriend."

I looked at him and smirked. "Um let me rephrase that. No means no. I don't know who made you king. But step off your high horse. You have no control over me. So back off." I told him the smirk still on my face.

He was frozen looking taken aback. I took my plate and backpack. Dumping my plate into the garbage as I left the lunchroom.

Jackson's POV

Ryan came up to me rubbing my shoulders. He said, "Daria told you, didn't she?" I turned to him, it hurt. I just found my mate and she rejected me. Thankfully she didn't full out reject me, or I think my heart would have broke in two. Grey was howling out in pain.

"She's my mate Ryan." I mind linked him. He responded by whispering "I know."
