I feel that it is very important for people to know exactly what the difference between assault and harassment is. So there is a difference between sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape. Sexual harassment is defined by the "Psychology Health and Center of excellence" and several other sources as any "hands off" unwanted sexual advances or remarks. An example of this would be cat calling. This is different from sexual assault which is defined as any "hands on" sexual contact without permission such as touching boobs without permission. Rape would be a subset of sexual assault where sexual intercourse or any other sexual penetration of the vagina, butt, or mouth of another person, by a sex organ, other body part, or foreign object, without the consent of the victim.
