"So he said a casual date?" Kat asked walking into my apartment. Tara was following her and I showed them to my room.

"I just don't know what to do cause I'm not good with this kind of stuff." I say opening my closet door. They stood there, side by side, skimming through my clothes.

I didn't have the girliest of clothes but I did have a few. They picked out a black and white striped shirt, black short shorts, and my black and white chuck Taylor's.

When I walk out the bathroom, they smiled when they saw me. "You look cute." Tara said as I sat on my bed. I liked having girls as friends for once. I didn't have many in high school.

They thought I was weird cause I hung around Brandon and thought I was one of the guys. It was nice to be friends with them and not to judge me.

"What are you thinking of?" Kat asked sitting next to me. "I've never been one of those girls who had a lot of friends who were girls. And I do now. So that's cool." I honestly told them as they both awed out loud.

"We're just happy to help your big first date with Colby." Kat said wrapping her arm around me. "I'm nervous about that too." I say, not knowing what was planned.

"Trust me, you'll do fine." Tara said as we heard a knock on my front door. My heart beat rose as I stood up. "Go, you'll be fine." Kat said pushing me out of my room.

I go open my door to see Colby waiting for me. He looked really good. Button up shirt and black jeans. "You ready beautiful?" He asked as I nodded my head. He took my hand and we walked out of my apartment.

"So, what are we gonna do?" I ask a little confused. He didn't tell me what we were doing, just to dress casually. "That's for me to know and you to figure out." He smiled as the elevator came to a stop.

When we got outside the lobby, I saw two electric scooters with a bow on it. "I figured we could ride these, if you don't mind." He smirked as I walked over to one.

I always wanted to ride one of these, I just had no one to do it with. "This is amazing." I say getting on one. I follow him out of the parking lot, letting my hair flow in the wind.

I follow him to a roller rink which looked pretty empty. I follow him inside to see music playing and disco lights on. "Why is there no one here?" I ask looking around.

"Because I rented it out for a couple of hours." My jaw dropped when he told me that. He actually rented out a roller rink for us, and us only. We got our shoes and laced them up.

"I hope you know I take this very seriously." I shrug as I stand up. "Yeah okay. I know I can beat you in a lap." He looked down at me from being taller than me. "Have fun with that." I say getting in the rink.

I started skating and it felt so good, I haven't done this in years. I looked over at Colby to see him struggling a little bit. I couldn't help but laugh at him.

"I thought you could beat me?" I joke as he rolls his eyes. "You're so cocky, Vee." I mean, he wasn't wrong. Growing up a middle child, things get competitive. I grab his hand, lacing our hands together, and start skating.

He ended up dragging me down cause I was going too fast and I fell on top of him. "Thanks for breaking my fall." I joke as he stares at me. He moves a piece of hair behind my ear while staring.

He then cupped my face. We both leaned in, our lips touching gently. I could get used to this feeling of kissing him.

It always makes me feel warm inside. And I haven't felt like that in a long time. When we pull apart, we were staring at each other, me still on top of him.

"You guys okay in there?" One of the workers asked as I quickly stood up. I helped Colby up as we told him we were okay.

We skated for a while but we decided to go play some arcade games. We were playing guitar hero and I was crushing him in it.

Brandon, Porter, and I used to play it all the time. When we finished, I had won as he was confused. "I'm so confused I lost, I've never heard you talk about it." He said walking around.

"Brandon, Porter, and I used to play it." I tell him honestly. He looked at me and then back to the game. "Don't worry, I'm okay. But you need to start practicing, Cole." I say calling him by his actual first name.

He looked at me like he was hurt when I said that. I couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, Venus." I actually didn't cringe when he called me it. It was different from the others.

Brandon said it to annoy me and my mom uses it in a motherly way. But when Colby said it, it actually made me smile. "Why are you smiling like that, I thought you hated your name." He questioned as I shrug.

"I don't hate it when you say it." I saw the ends of his mouth curve up when I told him that. He stuck his hand out for me to grab it. "Let's go get something to eat." He smugly said as I took his hand.

We walked to the scooters and rode to a chili's. I'm actually having a good time with Colby, I don't know why I was nervous. I just never pictured myself letting my guard down for anyone after losing the one person I cared about most.

But I'm happy that I let Colby into my life. He's pretty amazing. And I know the more we hang out, the more I fall for him. And I'm falling fast.
