i walked into my last class of the day and threw my bag to the floor next to my desk. psychology.

it was my worst lesson since i hated everyone in it and the teacher was annoying. i'd had such a bad day and was so ready to go home.

i decided to scroll through my phone till everyone else came shuffling through the door Mr Salvatore following a few minutes later. "Afternoon everyone" he shouted to the class. he received a few grunts back and continued talking.

"So today your life could change for better or for worse" he began to say. in my mind i was so confused as to what he was on about. he continued with telling us he had been "studying us" for the past few months. creepy i know. that's when ethan dolan piped up. "sir do you realise how dodgy that sounds to us" everyone laughed at his comment.

well of course they would. he's ethan dolan. him and his brother are the most popular people here at mystic falls high. ethan was more of the fuck boy type. having sex with different girls each week going to parties and getting drunk. a typical popular football player. however grayson was different.

he wasn't in my classes but i'd seen him around school. he was the complete opposite of ethan. a nice girlfriend good grades and never drank. what every girl wanted.

mr salvatore continued with what he was saying "like i was saying i've been studying each of you. who you associate your self with how you show yourself off to others what your hobbies are and how you spend your time here" he walked to his desk and grabbed a piece of paper. his next words made my heart drop.

"for your senior project for this class i'm going to be pairing you up with someone completely opposite to you. and it's your job to find out as much as you can about them. it's worth half of your grade" my breathing started to increase as he finished talking.

i hated everyone in this class and the thought of being paired with someone completely opposite to me for a project worth so much makes me feel sick. i just hope i'm with a girl or someone nice.

mr salvatore continued "you and your partner will be spending time together because you'll need to teach each other how you live your life your hobbies your family life any traditions at the end of the year you and your partner will give a presentation on what you learned over the course of the project who knows you could make a new friend"

i thought to myself is it too late for me to drop out of class

mr salvatore continued with this talking "i'll be reading out who's partners with who and give you the test of the lesson to talk and exchange numbers and such"

here goes nothing i thought

"emma ross and jack harvey , bryant esleva and olivia royce, nate garnier and elena gilbert , ethan dolan and jessica carter"

"who's jessica carter" ethan dolan shouted from across the classroom. i slowly raised my hand and whispered "me" he turned round and looked at me directly in the eyes. this is not going to end well

mr salvatore continued with his list "and there you have it now you have the rest of the lesson to talk and exchange numbers with your partner. good luck"

i was sat there silently when i heard someone sit down next to me. it's ethan. "this is gonna be a bore" he states. "tell me about it"

"so i guess you should give me your phone so i can put my number in it" he seemed almost as nervous as i was which gave me a tiny bit of reassurance

i slid my phone across the table him doing the same. i entered all my details and passed it back that's when i see what he's saved himself as

"Ethan Grant💞"

"what's the heart for" i ask him and he just says it makes it look cuter i guess he's right. grant must also be his middle name. cute.

the bell rang and finally it was time to go home. before i left ethan stopped me "hey jess meet me saturday at mine? i'll text you the address" sure i replied and then left the class with a smile on my face

no ones called me jess before. until him.
