did you know that research shows that seagulls are less likely to steal your food if you stare at them? or that male scientists are more likely to be referred by their last names? or that most winners of rock-paper-scissors win by anticipating their opponent's next move?

i didn't because i found this research lodged within a huge academic journal, riddled with niche terminology and overly-technical details. science is really cool but academic journals, where most research is published, can be alienating with their sheer volume of content prepared by hundreds of authors working together to, apparently, create the most confusing presentation of their work possible.

here's my collection of boiled-down-summaries of recent studies that have piqued my interest.
