Five Years Later

"Congratulations Michael" my commanding officer says as he shakes my hand after giving me my medal.

I've done it, after all my hard work, I've done it— I'm a police officer. I grin from ear to ear as I shake his hand. "Thankyou, sir"

"You're gonna be just fine, kid" he tells me before giving my hand one more shake before letting me go.

I look out to the crowd where everyone's family are cheering their loved ones on. I search for Elora in the crowd but she's nowhere to be seen, I haven't seen her since we had an argument about dad. Turns out he's dying, dying of liver disease and wants to see us as he hasn't got long left. The letter he sent me said he has a month, at most left to live, his letter also said that he is sorry for killing my mom, for treating us the way he did. But sorry doesn't take away my scars, sorry doesn't give me my childhood back, sorry doesn't give me my mama back. Sorry is just a word, a word that I know he doesn't mean, I know he doesn't—fucker just wants to die not feeling guilty.

Elora wants me to go, she said I could get closure, tell him how I felt...

How I felt...

How I felt...

The man fucking took my mom from me and ruined what little childhood I had. What I felt for the man was pure hatred, simple as that...

He killed my mom, he hurt her repeatedly, not just physically but emotionally too...

He wasn't sorry, if he was sorry—If he loved my mom, if he loved us, that shit would of stopped from the first strike. I have no doubt that the alcohol changed him, I know alcohol is an addiction, but love—real love, I mean, I'm talking that soul crushing love, so fierce, so strong that a person simply can't function without them.

What do I know about love, I hear you say?

I know I loved my mom, I know I love my sister, I know my mom loved my father with everything she had. She was blinded by her love for him, all the shit she took on a daily basis whether that was verbal or physical, she took it. I never understood why, I never understood why she stayed, when I asked her the same question over and over. Her words were always the same...

"I love him"

When I asked her to leave him, to take us somewhere safe, she said she didn't wanna leave him. Apparently he wasn't always this way, she didn't explain to me what that meant, but she was waiting around for a man that will never again be the man she fell in love with. Though, that day when he took her from me, from Elora, and he finally saw what he did, I saw remorse in his eyes. But that remorse was too little, too late, he had spent years beating my mom, emotionally abusing her, making her feel worthless.

I don't blame Elora for wanting to get closure, she's entitled to do what she wants now. I can't go, I can't look at him and give him my forgiveness, I can't give him what he wants. He'll have power over me if I give him that, and I don't want to feel powerless ever again.

"Eh, man" Lucas says happily. "We did it, you wanna come out with us and celebrate" he grins.

Lucas is my best friend, during the time here we shared a room and participated in the police exercises together, we've applied to the same police station also so hopefully we'll be partners. "Yeah, okay, why not" I smile.

"Elora not here?" He asks me looking around for my sister.

"Nah, she went to see him" I tell him.

"Shit" Lucas grumbles. "Are you okay, man?"

I shrug with a nod. "What can I do? I can't tell her not to go, she says she wants closure, who am I to stop her from getting that" I tell him.

"Yeah, but on your graduation?" He asks in disbelief.

I flinch at the words, knowing he's right in a sense, my little sister, the only blood I have left in this world didn't come to see me. I mean I know I said some horrible things when she told me she was going to see him, but I didn't think she would of not come to see her brother graduate. "I might have said some things to her—" I grumble.

"She should know that you wouldn't of meant what you said" he says in exasperation. "She's always been a stubborn ass, that sister of yours" Lucas grumbles.

Lucas and Elora have bonded well over the five years I've been at the academy, well, aswell as could be expected, I guess. "Yeah, well, what're ya gonna do?" I sigh heavily.

"Come on, let's go have a few drinks—and, Eh, you never know, you might just meet someone" Lucas grins wiggling his eyebrows. "You must be sick of using palm-la every night Bro" he teases.

"Fuck off you, I get more pussy than you do" I growl.

"Oh, yeah, when was the last time you got any then?" He asks me.

What the fuck?!

"What the fuck, bro?" I growl. "Did you wake up a girl or some shit?"

"Yeah, you call me Lucy" he squeals in a girly voice gaining the attention of our fellow class mates. "Can I help you nosey fuckers?" He growls to them making me chuckle which turns his glare towards me. "So come on, how long?"

"Why the fuck is it so important, man?" I growl. "I'll dip my wick when I want to fuckin' dip it"

"Aww, bless im' he's got a wick for a dick" he coos.

"Listen, fuck for brains, I ain't had any fuckin' complaints about my fuckin' cock from the ladies, trust me—it ain't small, it ain't fuckin' thin—my cock is long and thick" I growl.

"I can vouch for that" someone purrs from behind me.

I look behind me and there is my go to lay Trisha, I grimace when her eyes light up.

Fuck, I can't be fucking dealing with her needy shit right now...

"Saint—Luke, come with me, I've got an assignment for ya's, your boss have given me a job for y'all to do" the assistant chief tells us.

"Okay, we'll be there" I say with added meaning discreetly looking at needy trish.

"But saint, I thought—" she pouts.

"Sorry, sweet cheeks, duty calls" I grin with a wink as I walk away following chief.

"Fuckin A, Trish, is a grade A clinger, huh?"
Luke chuckles. "I'm fucking happy as fuck I passed on her"

I flip him off before I follow my boss into the station, he gestured to the locker room. "Your shit is in here, get changed and report to chief Roberts once you're changed" he growls before he stomps off.

"Fuck, I had a date tonight too" Luke grumbles.

"Pussy can wait" I tell him. "Innocent lives can't" I add.

"Tell that to my cryin cock" he grumbles.

I roll my eyes as we get changed and meet with chief Roberts. "Your first assignment is, a theft at a store not far from here—you may know it as bill's" he tells us.

Nodding he smiles at us. "Well, get to it then, and oh, and welcome to the force, boys" he chuckles.

"I'm missing pussy for this shit" Luke grumbles as we make our way to bills...

Little did I know who I would find there, years later would change my life...
