Clinton "Clint" Francis Barton, otherwise known as Hawkeye, is a Marvel superhero first appearing in Tales of Suspense #57 (1964). Writer Stan Lee and artist Don Heck created the character, who was initially a villain. However, the character would soon join the Avengers in The Avengers #16 (1965) as a noteworthy hero. Outside comics, Hawkeye has also appeared in cinema. Portrayed by American actor Jeremy Renner, Hawkeye has appeared in numerous films, such as The Avengers (2012), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and is set to appear in the upcoming solo series Hawkeye (2021).

Character Background
Clint was born in Waverly, Iowa to Edith Barton. He lost his parents in a car accident at a young age, and soon joined the Carson Carnival of Traveling Wonders. There, he was taught the skills of a master archer. His marksmanship eventually caught the eye of Nick Fury, who selected him to join S.H.I.E.L.D. He would become one of the organization's most skilled agents, even being tasked to terminate Soviet assassin Black Widow. He was selected, among other extraordinary individuals, to form the team known as the Avengers.

Powers and Abilities
Master Archer/Marksman: Clint is one of the world's greatest marksmen, being able to rival superhuman adversaries with precision and accuracy. In his own words, he "never misses" a shot.
Expert Tactician: Clint is a strategist, and can estimate exactly where an arrow will go before he even releases it from his bow.
Acrobat: Stemming from his years in the carnival, Clint is an apt acrobat.
Expert Combatant: Clint is a capable martial artist, developing his own fighting style where he incorporates archery into physical combat.
Trick Arrows: Using multiple different kinds of arrows, Clint has arrows that act as compact explosives, rotary drills, and grappling hooks.

Personality
Clint is a grounded achiever. Observant, active, introverted, and value-driven, he takes rules in consideration but ultimately follows his own rules in the end. He is family-oriented, keeping his wife and children sheltered from his dangerous day job. Caring and charismatic, he forms intimate bonds with a select but important few. Clint is neutral in most dividing situations, and will use his values to decide his next action.
