i think of you (sean and kaycee)

sean tried to keep his focus on cooking as she stood next to him

he could smell his shampoo
and he could sense her moving around him

no one was there but them

"are you going home tonight?" he asked

"probably." she said simply

"kaycee-"

"what sean?" she wasn't having it and it was obvious

"look, i don't know what to say."

"then why make a big deal out of nothing?" kaycee sat down

"it's not nothing," he said as he turned off the stove "we both know what the problem is."

"so it's a problem now," she rolled her eyes

sean knew his choice of words weren't the right ones, it was too late though
it had become a thing

"i don't mean it like that"

"then what?" "how do you think i feel right now?"
now kaycee was upset, maybe even more or less angry
"i'm trying sean, my feelings aren't just gonna change overnight."

"is that why you're so cautious? you're feelings?"
they stayed quiet for a moment "we talked about this kayc,"

"i know" she mummbled

he sighed "you have to work with me on this"

kaycee didn't respond

sean turned off the stove and walked over to her "kaycee"

she refused to make eye contact with him

sean didn't know what to do.
he hated how cautious she was around him
but he tried his best to understand where she was coming from

" kaycee" he tried again

"no sean." " i should just go home"

"don't"

"why not?" she nearly screamed " i'm tired of this sean"

" i know but-"

"but what?" kaycee interjected

"i-i don't know" he hung his head as they heard someone walk into the room

" i can come back " she said

" it's fine sarah, i'm just leaving." kaycee responded

sean sighed in defeat " at least take dinner home with you." he said as he gathered tupperware from the cabinets

she sighed as well " okay.' kaycee said quietly

sarah stood not even fifteen feet away from the two of them and she felt the temperature drop so low she should be able to see her breath

she watched their silent interaction

sean handing her her food
