"Can I have a super brewhouse special, hold the extra syrups, flavorings, and foams."

"So, you basically want just a regular large black coffee?" The girl looked at me skeptically, like 'who comes to a cafe and gets normal coffee?'

"Spot on." I smiled, "I'll also take two of these, plus whatever Miss Lexi wants." I said as I placed two breakfast sandwiches onto the counter, out of the counter of my eye I could swear I saw a slight smile raise Alexia's cheeks just a bit.

Alexia looked the girl square in the eye and ordered her coffee and breakfast pastry, but when she finished talking she resorted to placing her head down and focusing on her feet.

I found it intriguing. When she speaks, she apparently demands your undivided attention by holding your gaze, but then afterward she seems to want you to forget you were even talking to her.

She's such an odd little creature.

We found a small round coffee table with comfy reading chairs and took a seat.

"If you want, you can go browse the books while we wait for our drinks." I suggested, I could sense her want to go and look at the books.

She shook her head, "no, it'd be rude to just to leave you here by yourself."

I pulled out a five and held it out to her, "go, and if you don't mind, could you grab me a local newspaper?"

"S-sure." She sounded as she slowly rose from her seat.

It didn't take long for the barista to come over with our drinks and Alexia came back shortly after.

"I can't see why you would want the local paper." She sounded as she returned to her seat before handing the paper to me. She held out her hand trying to give me back my change but I shook my head no, with a determined sort of look she stared at me before simply placing the money on the table.

"It's going to just stay there." I pointed out.

"Then it'll be a tip because I don't need your money, especially four-fifty."

I couldn't help but smirk at her stubbornness then I opened the paper and found exactly what I was looking for. As I scanned the "For Sale" section I could see Alexia gently picking apart her breakfast pastry so I picked up one of the sandwiches and began eating as well.

"There's a lot of decent vehicles in here."

"Is that why you asked for the paper?" She questioned.

I nodded as I sipped my coffee, the hot bitter liquid waking me up even further. "I'm gonna need something to get to and from school, unless you plan on giving me a ride everyday."

She blushed ever so slightly, but enough for me to notice.

"Well whatever you do get, the mechanics shop off Stiffkey street is really good, they're prices are reasonable and they work fast, my dad use to work there."

"Can I ask you about your parents?"

She looked at me like a deer in headlights, "c-can we do this some other time."

I nodded as I instantly picked up on her uneasy vibe, apparently her parents are a touchy subject and the last thing I wanted was to push her away.

After that we sat silently as we finished up our impromptu breakfast then grabbed our coffees and exited back into the bookstore.

At first we split up and browsed through the books and magazines that would interest our own personalities, but after I got bored I sought her out. I found her intensely reading the sleeve of a very thick book, her concentrated state was extremely attractive and I couldn't help but approach her.

I knew she could feel my presence so I silently leaned against a book shelf and just watched her.

She sighed, "look, I know we're mates so naturally your curious about me and maybe with time we can trade stories." She said as she turned to face me. "A-all you need to know is that my father is in jail, my mother is dead, and I was raised by my grandmother and my aunt, until my Aunt moved out."

I didn't move, I held my gaze upon her...there is something big that she isn't telling me, and like she pointed out, she will tell me, eventually.

"I can respect that." I said honestly, but I knew deep down I had my own secrets that I wasn't quiet ready to tell her yet.

We paid for her books and then headed to the grocery store. I pushed the shopping cart while she walked a little ahead and placed different items in.

While out, I noticed that a lot of older (and I mean really older) people would always tell her hello. But whenever we saw a person our age, she would tense up as they usually just ignored her. I wouldn't really think to much into it, except the words of Driver on that first night only rang through my head.

When we got back to her house after the grocery store, I helped her unload the bags and her grandmother eagerly welcomed me back.

"Thank you for wasting your entire afternoon on me." I said once all the bags were inside.

"Oh, uh...it wasn't a waste, I actually had a decent time."

I couldn't help but smirk before turning and nearly walking into her grandma.

"You aren't leaving already are you?" She questioned me.

"I'm afraid so ma'am." I smiled. "It was a pleasure to see you again."

"Oh but you must come back for dinner this evening."

"I wouldn't want to impose, plus I don't really want to overwhelm Lexi with having to put up with me for an entire day." I said, I could faintly hear her heart beat quicken only just so. I wonder if she was excited I was leaving, hopefully she was excited at the idea that I would be returning.

"Don't be silly, and I insist you have dinner with us tonight, seven sharp."

"Yes ma'am," I politely agreed. "You lovely ladies have a good rest of the day."

As I walked out of the house I took notice of all of the yellow that touched their houses decor, it gave me an idea.
