By Your Side (Edward Elric x Reader)

Leaving Central

*(Y/N)'s POV*

I entered my new room. It was actually really nice and roomy. I put my bags down and sighed. I need to write a letter to my father. The sun lit the room up so I didn't even have to turn the lights on. I walked over to the little desk on the wall to the my right and saw that there was already a piece of paper and a pen on the desk. "Well that's convenient." I mumbled as I stood over the desk. 'I wonder if Edward wrote letters or called his family.' I thought. I then caught myself. "Why am I thinking about him?" I asked out loud. I shook my head to try to erase him from my mind. And it worked! I sat down and then started writing:

Dear Dad,

Hey Dad! I made it to Central and I am now considered a State Alchemist. Yes I made it in. I honestly didn't think they would accept because I am so young, but I guess that didn't matter to them. Oh I also met the Fullmetal Alchemist! Yes I met THE Fullmetal Alchemist. Honestly, he is way shorter and younger than I thought he would be. He looks like he is my age and I was correct. I asked Colonel Mustange and he said that he was fifteen. The same age as me! I really hope I'll get to befriend him and his brother. Oh I forgot to mention that he has a little brother. Though it's strange. His brother is wearing a suit of armor for no reason. I was actually kind of confused to see him wearing armor but I can't really do anything about. I just met them today and we aren't even friends yet. Anyways, how are you feeling? I hope your doing better. I will come see you once I get that Philosophers Stone. Once I get it I can heal you and we can be a small family again. Just me and you. I love you, Dad. I will do my best to find that stone. I promise.

I folded the piece of paper and put in an envelope. I sealed it with some red wax and made it into a small circle. It was now 4:00 p.m. "Did it really take me thirty minutes to write that letter?" I thought out loud.

I sighed and looked over at the small bag that was given to me by the Colonel. In that bag was my uniform. I walked over to the bag and pulled out the stylish blue uniform. I put it on and immediately fell in love with it. "It looks amazing." I said happily. I looked in the small mirror in the bathroom and put my hair into a (h/s).

I looked in the bag and realized that he didn't give me a gun. I sighed and got up. "I'll have to ask him." I said to myself. I walked out of my room and walked back to his office. I honestly got lost again but I was able to find it. I knocked on the door.

"Come in." He said. I opened the door and stepped inside. "Is everything alright?" He asked me. "Yes. I just... You didn't give me a gun." I said. He hesitated but then grabbed a pistol. He stood up and walked towards me with the gun in his hand. I stood up straight and gulped. "Your not planning on killing anyone right?" He asked. "I would only kill if I absolutely have to." I responded. He smiled and then handed me the pistol. "Good answer." He said. I smiled and reached for the gun. "But if you turn your back on us, I will not hesitate to kill you." He said. I gulped and then nodded. He was intimidating. He handed me the gun and excused me. I bowed in thanks and then left his office.

Now I was ready to find that stone. I put the gun in the holster and pulled on my sleeves to straighten them out. I walked out of the building to start my quest. I did some research before I came here and found out that this man, if I can remember correctly his name was Cornello, had something to do with the stone. I stood outside thought for a while.

"Hey (Y/N)!" A voice called out from behind me. I turned around quickly and saw Edward and Alphonse running to me. I felt my face heat up a little. "Um...hey! What's up?" I asked nervously. "I was wondering if you wanted to come with us." Edward said. I was shocked. Why would he want me to come with them? I looked at him in confusion. "We would like to get to know you. Since you are a fifteen year old State Alchemist of course." He said as he scratched the back of his neck. His smile, it was adorable.

"Hello?" He asked. I shook my head and snapped out of it. "Yeah. I would love to go with you guys!" I said. 'Wouldn't Colonel Mustang care?' I wondered. 'Oh come on (Y/N). You only came here to find out information about the stone. Not to be someone's weapon.' I told myself. Though it sounded super dumb once i thought about my reason to become a State Alchemist.

"Alright then come on." Edward said as he threw his hands behind his head. "Let's go get some train tickets."
