Music played loudly out the speakers, leading everyone to the dance floor. Will looked at me with his beautiful smile as if he was urging me to dance with him.

I sighed and grabbed his hand tightly, leading us towards the dance floor. A slow song began to play and I felt like prom couldn't get any better.

Here I was, dancing with my amazing boyfriend of two years at prom. It's all went so fast. I still remember when we first met, the memories as vivid as if it were just yesterday.

"You good?" He asked me suddenly.

"Yeah, I am...just thinking." I said truthfully.  He lifts up my face with his warm hand, looking deeply into my eyes.

"I love you Rachel." He whispers, so quietly that if I wasn't as close to him as I currently was, you wouldn't be able to here it.

"I love-" Before I can finish my sentence his phone rings, causing me roll my eyes dramatically. He grabs it from his pocket, letting go of me and I suddenly miss his touch.

After finishing his phone call, he gives me a small smile before explaining.
"Baby, I really need to go, Lee needs help setting up the after party and stuff." He says.

"But can't someone else do it?" I ask him, the look of disappointment evident on my face.

He sighs and looks down. "He really needs me there Rachel, I can't let him down." He said as I ignore the feeling of hurt creeping up on me.

"Yeah it's fine, I'll be okay." I tell him, hiding how I really feel with a smile. He smiles back before pecking my lips and rushing off. Guess he didn't notice.

I sigh and go sit down, wishing I had other people to hangout with. I never really realised how lonely I was over the years. I didn't have any close friends since I was always with Will and his friends. I didn't get on very well with girls at my school and here I was sitting on my own at prom, hoping my boyfriend returns soon. I looked around at the people in my year, all strangers I barely knew.

I hear footsteps approach me and I make eye contact with Zane. The most mysterious boy I've ever met. The only time I ever spoke to him was in year four when he asked me if he could give me a haircut...let's just say it didn't end well.

"Well If it isn't Rachel Carter, alone on this special night...where's that boyfriend of yours?" He sits opposite me, his eyes never leaving mine.

"Non of your business Zane, I'm sure you have something better to do than sit here and talk to me?" I question him, tilting my head to the side. He mirrors my action.

"I really need a dance partner Rachel and you seem to be the only person available right now." He said, reaching out his hand for me to take.

"I'm not gonna dance with you Zane, I have a boyfriend and let's be honest here, we all know what you really want." I say bluntly, folding my arms and trying to focus on something else.

"What is it that I really want?" He challenges, his mouth forming a smile.

I scoff and grab his hand, leading him to the dance floor. He looks taken aback as I start to sway my hips slowly. He looks me up and down before his eyes flicker down to my lips.

"If you're gonna dance then don't just stand there...dance." I tell him. He gulps before answering.

"I think I'd rather just watch you dance instead..." He says, and I suddenly stop dancing, looking him straight in the eyes. We stay like this for a while, the rest of the world fading away.

What am I doing?

He leans down as I stare at his perfectly shaped lips, full and soft looking.
