"Baby Steps"

"I know I'm the most reliable person in the family but just when I had to do something why do you guys always have to ruin it?"

Alexander was bloody pissed. He just went home from a mission and now his brother was here together with his woman. At talagang nagkataon pa kung kalian matitikman na niya muli ang labi ni Andi ay dumating naman ang mga ito.

"We need help. I'm sorry if I-" Alexander cut Raiden off.

"Oh, you ruined it. You two ruined it. I'm so pissed I just want to kill you both."

Bumaba si Alexander at tumingin sa dalawa. He was standing on the stairs, topless, and wearing only his trousers. He was looking down at the two when he noticed something different. Unti-unti siyang kumalma at na-curious sa bagong nilalang na nakikita niya. He then smiled; a smile that gave shiver to Maru, Raiden's girlfriend.

Alexander was bloody attractive and handsome. But there was just something off with the aura that he was giving. Maru was the only who could see that. Unang beses pa lamang niya itong nakita, alam na ni Maru na may kakaiba sa binata. Muling nagpasalamat ang dalaga na si Raiden ang nakilala niya sa pitong magkakapatid na Frey.

"Well, well, well... Look what we've got here," wika nito habang nakatingin kay Maru.

"A newborn vampire with a werewolf blood but something more is mixed," dugtong pa nito.

"I thought the orb ate everything but looks like it left something." Bumaba ito hanggang sa makalapit sa dalawa.

Ibinaba ni Raiden si Maru at inalalayan itong tumayo. Kinakabahan si Maru. Tama nga bang pumunta sila rito ni Raiden at kay Alexander humingi ng tulong?

"What did it left? The contract? Am I still with Lilith's bounds?"

Umiling ito, "You're not. A little succubus blood was left, that's all."

Gulat ang sumunod na nakita niyang reaksyon sa dalawa. Nagkatinginan si Maru at Raiden saka ito muling tumingin sa kanya.

"Come on, we need to do something to ease your pain," wika nito saka ito naglakad paakyat. Ngunit bago ito tuluyang makaakyat ay huminto ito at lumingon sa dalaga.

Ngumiti ito at muling nagsalita, "And welcome to the family."

Tumingin si Maru kay Raiden.

"Is that a good thing?" tanong nito.

Raiden just smiled. "I guess so."

Napa-iling na lamang si Alexander nang marinig ang usapan ng dalawa. Nagtungo sila sa guest room. Ipinahiga niya si Maru sa kama. Nagtungo siya saglit sa kanyang opisina at kumuha ng gamot doon. Bumalik siya sa magnobyo at ibinigay ang maliit na bote sa dalaga. Kunot-noong tumingin si Maru sa asul na likido sa loob ng bote.

"Is this safe?" tanong nito.

"Just drink it," wika ni Alexander.

"That's an elixir. Made by elves in the Labyrinth," paliwanag ni Raiden.

"Elves? There are elves?" Hindi makapaniwalang tanong ni Maru sa binata.

"Well you exist, why question the other's existence," wika naman ni Alexander kaya't doon tumahimik si Maru. That made sense actually. If she was alive, paano pa kaya ang ibang nilalang na haka-haka lamang para sa mga tao?

Maru looked again at the potion on her hand. She was about to drink it when she stopped. She smelled something. It was a strong and sweet smell coming from a room not far from them.
