Seungcheol slammed a fist down on to the table in front of him causing several members to jump and Soonyoung to half-whimper, half-sob once more.
"Guys, come on... Let's not argue, we can talk this out and it'll be ok-..." Joshua was trying to be the voice of reason, but was immediately cut off by Seungcheol.
"I said I won't allow it, end of story Mingyu. Now we have to try and deal with this mess you've made, how could you both be so careless?" Seungcheol was rubbing his temple as if to ease some tension from his own features.
Soonyoung shuddered in Mingyu's embrace as he felt like his knees were about to give way at any second. Never before had he been made to feel so ashamed over his actions. Seungcheol was usually quite a goofy leader, kind, caring and overly supportive. Sure he had his sternness and knew when to be serious; which is all part of why he worked so well as their leader. But this? This was something new, to all of them.
"Come on, hyung. Let's give them a chance? It doesn't feel right to just disallow it on someone else's say-so. Their feelings should be considered first and foremost, we're family after all." Wonwoo tried to reason, Joshua and Jun both nodding and making noises of agreement.
"But what do we do?? It's all over social media now and it won't be long before the interviews start and all the questioning..." Seungkwan rambled on, raking a hand through his hair as he shook his head slightly, "Why couldn't you have told us before all of this? Maybe then this could have been prevented."
"But Kwannie, they were afraid of our reaction and rightly so... Look at what's happening now. I can understand why they didn't..." Hansol responded to Seungkwan, his eyes glancing over to Seungcheol and back to Mingyu before ending on Seungkwan once more.
Despite everything, Soonyoung felt his heart hurt just that little bit more, but this time for Hansol as he knew exactly why Mingyu and Soonyoung were so scared. Hansol felt the same towards Seungkwan and no doubt the reactions right now were doing nothing to help Hansol in any way. Although he had yet to even confess to Seungkwan.
One by one, voices started picking up from the other members, what would start as innocent disbelief and attempts to calm the situation down inevitably started turning into arguing. Members arguing with one another, drowning each other out. Some of them saying Mingyu and Soonyoung shouldn't just be cast aside so easily and that they could manage, that it didn't have to come to this. Whilst others voiced opinions such as the scandal it would cause and how it would ruin the working dynamic of their group; that because they saw each other as family is why it shouldn't be allowed. It'd change everything.
Through all the noise, Soonyoung continued to sob until his throat was burning with each struggle of a gasp for air he took. Mingyu's grip on him was tight, unwilling to let him go. His cheek was lightly pressing against the side of Soonyoung's face as he continued an argument with Seungcheol, but Soonyoung had reached a point where he was droning everyone out. He couldn't stand to hear it anymore. He didn't want to hear all the reasons why he and Mingyu shouldn't be together; he couldn't accept this as reality.
One person in all of this had stayed quiet however, the bemused expression never faltering as the members around him were enveloped in chaos. But when he did finally speak up, everyone around him immediately shut up resulting in perfect silence, to the point you'd hear it if a pin dropped.
"Soonyoung. Seungcheol-hyung. The three of us should talk this out separately. The members don't need this kind of tension hanging over them, we have schedules to think about after all and everyone needs their heads clear. The three of us were made the leaders for a reason and it is now down to us to handle this." Jihoon stood up from his chair and moved to throw his empty water bottle in the recycling bin before sliding his hands into his jean pockets. His eyes wandering between Seungcheol and Soonyoung who still had his back facing everyone.
