           ~Melina's POV~

Monday morning...

Ivy: "wheres your man?" She asked as we walked toward the cafeteria

"I don't know; I haven't seen him or kaliah today" I said as I shrugged my shoulders

Ivy: "oop! What if they're messing around"

I just looked at her

"Melo's dumb but he's NOT stupid" I said as I walked toward our table and accidentally bumped into somebody

"My ba-"

Melo: "Mel we need to talk" he said cutting me off

"Uh when'd you get here and about what?"

Melo: "I've been in the office all day"

"Wh-"

Melo: "I'll tell you outside" he said cutting me off again and roughly grabbing my arm

"Okay first of all you're hurting me and second of all what the fuck is happening?" I semi yelled causing people to look at us

Melo: "Melina please" he said lowly

Ivy looked at me hella concerned

"What's goin on?"

Melo: "I'll tell you-"

"I know..outside" I said as I rolled my eyes and followed him into the vacant hallway

Melo: "Mel I'm leaving chino hills"

"YOU'RE SWITCHING SCHOOLS?!" I yelled

Melo: "my dad wants me to get my GED"

"So he basically wants you to drop out?" I asked in disbelief

Melo: "well not exactly but he wants me to ball overseas in Lithuania"

"YOU'RE MOVING?!" I yelled

Melo: "yeah but mom's staying here"

"So that's it? You don't get a say so in this? Do you even wanna go to where ever the hell you just said? Do they even speak English?" I ranted

Melo: "this is what dad wants and he knows what's best for me; you know I'd never doubt him"

"He's taking you out of school so you can play basketball in a country I've never even heard of before..." I said plainly

Melo: "Mel I-"

"When are you leaving?"

Melo: "well we're goin shopping for clothes after we leave her-"

"WHEN. ARE. YOU. LEAVING?"

Melo: "tomorrow night" he said as he scratched the back of his neck

I didn't know wether to be happy for him since this IS his dream, to be fuckin pissed because it's the craziest shit I've ever heard or to be sad because he's ACTUALLY leaving so I just stood there with a blank expression

Melo: "Mel say something"

"How long have you known you were leaving?" I asked

Melo: "a week"

"AND YOU'RE JUST NOW TELLING ME!"

Melo: "I didn't kn-"

"YOU DIDNT KNOW WHAT?! THAT YOU WERE LEAVING THE COUNTRY OR THAT ID BE UPSET?!"

Melo: "I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO FUCKIN EXPLAIN IT! I DONT WANNA LEAVE YOU MELINA AND YOU KNOW THAT SHIT BUT I NEED THIS! I LOVE YOU I REALLY DO BUT MY FUTURE COMES BEFORE ANYTHING AND ANYONE!" He yelled

I didn't respond because he was right.

He's been working his whole life for this and who am I to really stand in the way

Melo: "I'm sorry for yel-"

"It's fine; bye lamelo" I said plainly as I started to walk away

Melo: "so that's it? What about us?"

"Don't worry about US; you're future comes before anything and anybody" I said as I walked into the cafeteria

Melo: "Mel I didn't mean it like tha-"

Lavar: "come on son we gotta go" he said loudly

I didn't even turn around to see what happened after that

Ivy: "awww what happened?" She asked as she noticed I was crying

I just shook my head and continued crying

Lucas: "Melina say something" he said as he wiped my tears away with his napkin

"What do you want me to say? He's leaving"

Ivy: "lamelo?!"

I nodded

"He's going to play overseas"

Lucas: "oh damn"

Ivy: "are you okay?" She asked

"No. I know that this is what he wants but I just can't stand to not have him around. Like honestly forget about the whole boyfriend thing; he's my bestfriend and I've never gone long without him by my side. I don't know what I'm gonna do because it's like if he leaves he's taking a part of me with him and I just can't do it." I admitted as I broke down

Ivy and Lucas just looked at me with wide eyes

"What? Am I ranting? I'm sorry I just don't have anyone else to talk to an-"

Ivy pointed behind me cutting me off so I turned around only to see Melo standing there looking hella depressed

We both had the same look in our eyes only mine was filled with tears

Melo: "my dad uh- he signed you out so we could spend the day together" he said lowly as his voice cracked

Ivy: "this is so fucking sad! I can't take this" she said as she started wiping the tears that were forming in her eyes

"Oh okay just let me grab my-"

Melo: "book bag" He said as he held it up

I stood up and grabbed it

"I'll see you guys tomorrow" I said  sadly 

Melo grabbed my hand as we walked out of the cafeteria

Melo: "I hope you know that we're not breaking up when I go" he said lowly

"Do you think long distance is gonna work for us?"

Melo: "we'll make it work; trust me" he said as we headed to the parking lot

Lavar: "why the long faces?!" He loudly asked

Neither me nor Melo responded; we just got into the backseat

I laid my head on Melo's shoulder

I really wished he didn't have to go so far away but I'm so proud of him.
