Courtney POV:
I was at my apartment watching Rick and Morty when I heard a knock on my door. I walked over and looked in the peep hole to see Shayne's kind smile.
I smiled to myself and opened the door. "Hey court" he said walking in. "Hey Shayney!" I said following him into my living room.
"How was the rest of work?" I asked sitting down next to him turning to face him. "It was fun. Lots of filming after you left though" he laughed. "Really? What'd you film?" I asked curious as to what I was missing out on "we did an EBE and a squad vlog. I also did a smosh games episode" he explained laughing "that's fun. I'm excited to see you and Damien together over on smosh games instead of him coming over to our side" I joked
"Yeah same," he laughed lightly "how was the hospital? Is everything okay?" He said bringing the conversation back to me. He always seemed to do that, he always just wants to know how I'm doing and if I'm okay. He really is a sweet guy.
"Um, well they said she got a little worse over night. Yet another setback." I sighed "I'm sorry Courtney" he said putting his hand on mine on the back of the couch. "She'll get through it. She always fights through everything no matter how hard it is. I'm just worried ya know?" I said trying to convince myself everything was gonna be okay, but the truth is I didn't know if it was.
"It's okay to be worried court. You're handling this a lot better than most people. I know I wouldn't be as calm as you are." He said giving me a small smile. I smiled back giving him a sort of 'thank you' look. Just to make sure he got the message I thanked him and hugged him.
"Thank you for being here. And thank you for checking in on me. I probably wouldn't have been able to function for much longer" I said letting him go he smiled at me sweetly and replied. "I'll always be here for you court. No matter what is going or wherever you are I'm gonna be here. I promise."
I smiled and sniffled before laughing "okay okay that was really sweet but enough with the sappy stuff. We should watch a movie or something." He laughed too and I swear I saw a blush on his cheeks when he turned away from me. I couldn't help but smile to myself. He's such a softy sometimes.
I heard him clear his throat and I giggled "what do you want to watch?" Trying to change the subject seeing he was flustered. "How about a scary movie?" He said smirking no longer seeming flustered and he was back to his teasing nature. "Shayne! You know I hate scary movies" I laughed playfully hitting him in the arm.
"Please? I'll choose one that isn't even scary." He begged. "Shayne-" he interrupted me "I'll protect you from the monsters. Please" he said giving me puppy eyes. I took a second to try to fight back but I can never saw no to puppy eyes. "F-fine but if I scream and the neighbors call the cops that's on you" I half joked half warned
"Fine. What kind of movie do you want?" He asked "I thought we settled on a scary movie?" I said confused and he chuckled "no I mean what type of scary movie? Do you want a slasher? Monster movie? What?" He explained
"Oh. I guess a slasher movie?" I said unsure. "Ah good choice. Let's see which one is a good one but not too scary. Hush is pretty good and it's not really scary" he suggested. I don't really know anything about scary movies so I just trusted him and agreed
"Sure. You better not be lying" I warned him before grabbing us blankets and pillows. I made some popcorn and got us some beer.
The movie wasn't too bad at the beginning. It was almost funny but then the first jump scare happened and I couldn't help but jump closer to Shayne hiding my face in my pillow. "That was barely a jump scare!" He laughed at me.
"Stop! It's not funny" I said trying to hide my smile as I moved even closer to him. "Will you warn me when a jump scare is about to happen?" I asked softly into my pillow. "I would love to but I have only seen this movie once so I don't know where they all are" He said shrugging
I groaned and looked back to the screen. I was really tired, I still hadn't slept and I could feel my eyes getting heavy. I knew I wasn't going to sleep tonight anyways so that's why I invited him over so I at least wouldn't be bored for awhile.
Shayne POV:
The next few jump scares happened and before you knew it Courtney was right next to be our shoulders touching. I didn't mind, I thought it was cute that she got scared so easily over these things.
The movie was almost over when I looked at Courtney who had fallen asleep on my chest. I laughed quietly and smiled down at her. I debated moving her to her bed but didn't want to wake her since I knew she hadn't been getting much sleep so I just stayed there.
