Courtney POV:
I knocked on Ian's office door when he opened it. "Courtney? You're here. Come in" he said shocked letting me in
"I'm so sorry Ian. I'm here to explain what happened and why I wasn't here. I understand if you want to let me go it was completely unprofessional of me and I should've at least called in-" I rambled sitting down in front of his desk
"Courtney. Breathe. I'm not going to fire you. You wouldn't just skip work for no reason. Obviously something is going on. Just calm down and then you can explain" he said sweetly giving me a small smile
I smiled back and took a deep breath "the reason I haven't been here is because my mom is in the hospital. She's been diagnosed with cancer. It all happened so fast and I guess it slipped my mind to call and I ended up cutting everyone out. I'm really sorry"
"There's nothing to be sorry for. Family comes first. It would've been nice for you to call but I understand how crazy things can get. You know you're like my sister and I wouldn't want you to stress out about work. Go be with your family and come back when you're ready. Your job will be here for you when you get back" he said before his phone rang
"I gotta take this but seriously don't worry about it. I hope your mom gets well soon and if you need anything don't be afraid to call me"
"Thank you Ian. It means a lot" I said before walking out of his office. I walked into the squads section of the office and walked into the lounge
"Court court how'd it go" Keith said once I walked in. "It was fine. He was really sweet about it." I said before sitting down
Shayne looked up from his computer and took his earbuds out. "Did everything go okay?" He said before walking up to me
"Yeah he really put my mind at ease" I said giving him a smile. "That's great. You ready to go?"
"Actually I have like an hour until I have to go to the hospital. I kinda wanted to just stay and catch up with you guys. I mean if you guys aren't busy" I said quietly
"Well Olivia is filming and Noah and Keith have to go to a meeting but I'm all yours" he said happily. I giggled and nodded "awesome!"
Me and Shayne continued to talk as we sat next to each other of the couch. "Hey do you wanna hang out tonight? My mom isn't allowed to have visitors tonight and I wouldn't mind having some company. If you're busy I get it I can just get Olivia to come over"
"I'd love too I'll see you tonight after work" he said smiling.
