"Of course." he replied, my dad walking into the kitchen.

I just smiled and went to turn around but, a hand caught my wrist. It was Ryder, my heartbeat quickened and my nerves settled in.

"Can I use your restroom?" he asked, while looking at me intently.

"Um, yeah I-it's upstairs." Fuck, I need to stop stuttering.

I started walking to the stairs, going up them. Once we were both at the top, I looked at him.

"It's the first door to your right." Wow, had that been the first sentence I said without stuttering.

"Thanks." he said, following my directions as I went to Jeremy's room.

"Dinners ready." I shouted, knocking on his door.

Before I knew it the door swung open and my brother pushed past me almost making me fall.

"Rude." I yelled to him, as he continued to run downstairs.

"So he's your brother." Ryder's voice startled me, sending chills down my spine and I turned around to face him.

"Yeah why?"

He shook his head. "No reason."

"Well, we should go back downstairs." I said, about to turn around but, his hand grabbed my wrist yet again.

"Wait." he called, and I grew nervous, the butterflies in my stomach flying around.

"What?" I asked, he stared at me for a second.

"You're not stuttering anymore."

That did it, my face was a blaze as I blushed and turned back around. Why did he have to notice that and point it out.

"Oh my gosh." I laughed slightly and I heard him chuckle, he finally let go of my wrist and we walked downstairs.

Once we were in the kitchen I walked to go sit down. Our table was a rectangle shape and had about six chairs. My mom and dad were seated next to each other on one side. while Jeremy was seated on the end, Jake on the other. Which meant I'd have to sit next to Ryder on the other side.

I moved and sat down so that Jake was on one side of me whereas Ryder was right next to me.

"There you are I'm starving woman." Jake grumbled.

I flipped him off, earning a look from my mom. She had never been one to even make a gesture like that. My mom was a caring, nice and respectful lady.

"Octavia." My dad scolded as well.

"Ha ha." Jake taunted.

"Ha ha." I mocked him.

I stole a glance at Ryder who sat down next to me and was currently burning holes in my head. I had forgotten for a second he was there, I felt goosebumps start to form on me.

"Okay, you two enough." My mom scolded, looking at Jake and I, who then looked at Ryder. "I'm sorry their always like this."

"That's okay Mrs. hill" Ryder spoke, I couldn't help but, notice he talked with so much confidence, authority.

I was drawn to it.

"Alright, well since everyone's here why don't we start." she smiled.

After dinner was done Ryder was still here discussing stuff with my dad. Not once at dinner had their conversation picked up again. Which I was disappointed about. Jake had to go home because, of a family emergency. That's why we were currently at the door saying goodbye.

He kissed my cheek and wrapped his arms around my waist hugging me, "Bye, I love you, I'll call you later and remember I'm so sorry." he says pulling away.

I looked in his eyes and knew he meant it as much as his apology earlier. I put my hand on his cheek, looking at him.

"Yeah I know." he smiled and turned around walking away as I shut the door.

When I turned around, I met the livid, heated gaze of Ryder's dark brown eyes. To say he looked pissed would be an understatement. Ryder looked absolutely livid.

Like I said before, a blind person could see it.
