'I promised provisions to fill hold's store
but now I see, they are scarcely needed.
Nevertheless, it is wise to secure
whole grain for bread, leavened or unleavened.'

Goddess withdraws from her silver girdle
a leather wallet bulging with contents.
'Grain you will need and this to help curdle
what you will milk - the last of my presents.'

Opening wallet, the Goddess reveals
a pouch full stuffed with perpetual seed,
a vial of vinegar carefully sealed
and miniature goatlings to grow at need.

'Husband these gifts and you will not hunger.
There - my blessing! Now, linger no longer.'
