it's. . .raining again, chaeyoung thought as she stared outside her window. the sky was already a pencil gray, with patches of cotton white.

the rain drops gently landed against the glass, sliding down it so delicately, each one leaving a trail behind.

chaeyoung couldn't help but sigh as she heard the bell, eyes moving off the window. quickly standing up, she put her things in her bag and put on her coat.

her lecture had ended for the day, so she was free for the rest of it. she didn't know how she was going to spend the rest of the day however and it saddened her that the weather was so gloomy today of all days. she picked up her bag, following the rest of the students to the exit.

chaeyoung was a psychology student finishing her second year and about to start her third. she loved psychology, it had always been something that drew her in. she wanted to learn more about the human being, its behavior, its mind, its feelings and understand it all. psychology was something that had fascinated her since middle school, taking her in whole and now here she was, studying it.

the moment she stepped out of the uni building, crystal clear drops fell on her pale skin repeatedly. she didn't have an umbrella with her to shield her from the rain, yet she couldn't afford to wait for it to finish, so she took off her coat and pulled it over her head and bag, beginning to walk home at a fast pace. she had already made up her mind on where she was going to go. she was going to visit her best friend lalisa and spend the rest of the day at her house, watching movies and talking about uni life.

a startling flash of light could be seen in the distance, followed the by the loud rumbling of thunder. less than a second later, she hurried her pace, trying to find a shelter. the rain kept getting worse by the minute. looks like her plans with lisa had to wait. . .

finding a shelter underneath a building's entrance, she took out her phone, deciding to text lisa and tell her that she was coming over.

hey♡
i'm free for the rest of the day and i was thinking of hanging out together at your house

lisa
hi babe♡
yeah sure, im free.
you coming over rn?

yeah, im on my way.
im just waiting for this downpour to stop

lisa
oof, where are you?
i'll come pick you up.

really?♡
ive taken shelter at the old building next to that rice cakes shop we love

lisa
okay, onw♡

chaeyoung smiled softly, putting her phone back in her pocket as she looked around, trying to find something to keep herself busy. her eyes landed on a bench across the street where a girl sat, completely drenched from head to toe. she sat there motionless, eyes emptily staring at the ground in front of her. she furrowed her brows curiously, observing the girl in silence. she didn't move at all during those two minutes.

is she okay?

the following minutes felt like hours and during that time, the girl didn't move a single inch. chaeyoung furrowed her brows, unsure whether she should try and talk to her or not.

maybe she's going through something, she thought to herself and just as she was about to make her way towards the mysterious brunette, ignoring the pouring rain, a black suv pulled up in front of her.

"get in, chipmunk." lisa called out after rolling down the window, giving a wink at the girl.

chaeyoung playfully rolled her eyes at her friend, opening the car door and getting in quickly. her eyes still remained on the brunette, who remained seated on the park bench even though lisa started driving away.

her empathy got the best of her and she regretted not talking to the girl. maybe she could have done something to help her. . .

maybe next time.

she knew this wasn't going to be the first and last time she'd see those silky dark brunette hair.
