Chapter 1- In the beginning

Most teenage pregnancy stories start with the girl sitting on the bathroom floor holding a white stick in her hands praying for the pink line not to appear,  but it always does. Then they go to tell their parents and they get kicked out, then head off to the baby's dad (if they know who he is) if not to their best friends where they live and give birth to the baby either to hand it over to caring adoptive parents or look after it somehow by getting a job and leaving collage, etc.

But my story isn't like most teenage pregnancy stories. First of all, i'm not a teen. My name's Daniella and I'm twenty-two years old. Secondly I have a job, I'm a waitress in the local bakery. Also I know my boyfriend, well, six months ago he was my boyfriend. He's now my fionce! twenty-three year old Liam. I've known him for four years and been dating him for three. In May early this year I agreed to become his wife...

"You ready yet Dan?" Liam called from downstairs, almost making me smudge my makeup. I clicked my tongue and put the lid back onto mascara.

"Coming!" I shouted back, grabbing my bag and making my way downstairs. I was almost at the last step when Liam turned around to face me. I stopped and let him run his eyes over me. I was wearing a tight-fitting knee length black dress, showing off way much more clevage than I was used to, or comfortable with to be honest. But Liam had told me to dress up for our special night. My light brown hair hung in loose curls down my back, stopping just below my rib cage.

"Well, you look... Hot!" He grinned. I laughed and continued walking down the stair misjudging the last step. I fell forwards into Liam with an 'oof'.

"Oi careful!" He smiled, "Now Daniella, what have I told you about wearing those heels?" I blushed and pushed a strand of hair out of my face. He hugged me and whispered 'You look beautiful' into my ear and then lead me out the door.

We'd just finished eating a desert of cheesecake and ice cream when Liam slipped out his chair and got down on one knee. I took a sharp breath inwards, as a rush of excitement ran through me.

"Liam?" I asked, "What are you doing?" He looked up at me with a puzzled expression.

"Tying my shoelace." He answered flatly. My heart dropped and I banged my elbows down on the table, placed my chin in my hands and sighed turning my head the opposite way hoping Liam wouldn't see my disappointment. Why were men so clueless.

For the past months I haven't stopped going on and on about weddings, gazing at beautiful brides dresses and staring dreamily at wedding rings in shop windows. But he couldn't take a hint... Either that or he didn't want to marry me. I sighed again feeling hopeless.

"Oh, Dan?" I heard him ask.

"Hmm?" I answered, slowly turning my head round where my gaze locked with his light blue eyes. They had a certain sparkle in them that I hadn't seen before. Then I noticed he was smiling at me. I tilted my head to the side with a questioning look and that's when I saw it.

The little, unmistakeable black velvet box in his hands. I gawped at him, feeling my dark brown eyes widening. By now his smile had grown and a few people were staring at us. He opened the box to reveal the most beautiful ring I have ever seen! It caught the light at the exact right point making it shine so perfectly.

"Daniella Chloe Mason," He began, "The moment I met you I knew I loved you, right there and then. I have ever since and I always will. I never want to lose you, will you please, please make me the happiest man on earth by becoming my wife?"

My eyes prickled with tears and I did my best to blink them back, "So will you marry me?" Liam finished. I starting nodding and Liam grinned from ear to ear. I then took his face in my hands and kissed his proud little smirk. The people around us started to clap. This was the perfect moment.

"Of course I will," I mumbled into his ear, "I love you."

But maybe the biggest difference of all about this pregnancy story is that I'm not pregnant. Yet...

We've been trying ever since Liam proposed but no such luck so far. You would not believe how much I want to be a mummy! I adore little children and I get so jealous looking at a young women holding her baby, staring down into their adorable little eyes filled with love, I envy those mums who get to take their own little miracles to places and spend time together as a family, I want to be like those parents who get to watch their children grow up. And I hate those people who say how annoying their little 'monsters' are. They have no idea how lucky they are...

I know this seems a bit drastic, I'm very lucky compared to some people! I mean, I'm young, I've got my health, there's still plently of chances for me to be like the people I envy so much. But I can't help feeling like it's not meant to be...

So here I am again sitting on the cold bathroom floor, looking up at the ceiling...

"Come on, come on, come on." I whispered to myself as I glanced down at the white stick in my hands.

Nothing.

I waited for a while longer.

More nothing.

I sighed and slowly got up blinking back the tears. There was a knock at a door and I opened it throwing the stick at a hopeful looking Liam. I then marched into our bedroom and threw myself onto the bed sobbing.

"Erm Dan?" I rolled over and looked at Liam standing in the doorway, "What does the pink line mean?" My eyes widened and I jumped off the bed and grapped the stick out of his arms.

"Oh my God..." I gasped covering my mouth with my hand. I looked up into Liam's eyes, "I'm pregnant!" I cried, "Pregnant! We're going to be parents oh my God!" I clinged tightly onto him laughing with happiness.

Liam pushed me back out of his arms looking nervous. "What's wrong?" I asked. He touched my belly gently.

"So that's our baby? In here?" I saw a hint of a smile on his face and I nodded. "Well what do we do now?" He questioned.

"Well," I begun, "We could erm, celebrate and tell people?" I smiled.

"Sounds great!" He laughed and kissed my forehead, "Told you it would happen someday..."

Ahhhhh I was pregnant! I was gonna be a mummy! Be like those people I longed to be...
