Ace

I pulled my truck into Mcreery's field and parked before turning off the transmission and hopping out and making my way over to the tailgate that held the drinks. After pouring myself some Jack and coke I walked over to where my friends Kira and Lexi stood laughing in bonfire glow

"Hey there sexy lady!" Lexi exclamed, winking at me

"Me? Look at you two hot babes!" I giggles, coming to a stop between them. We talked for a while before I felt eyes staring at the back of my head. Glancing over my shoulder, I saw local bad boy Steele Grahms staring at me, a glint in his eyes I couldn't place. He was in a red plaid button down shirt paired with ripped jeans and a pair of worn out boots and a baseball cap, he looked hot as the hell he raised in this town. After sending a smile his way, I took a drink and turned back around to talk to Lexi and Kira again

"Oh my god this is my song!" Kira squealed, grabbing my hand and dragging me to where everybody was dancing to "Kick it in the Sticks" by Brantley Gilbert. We danced like everyone else was, swinging our hips and laughing about Carl's dancing, if you could call it that. The three of us danced for hours, only stopping to refill our drinks, and i felt eyes on me the whole time. There were several times i would glance over at Steele and see his eyes practically glued to where Lexi and I danced. At about 3:30, I smelt a spicey cologne before I felt rough hands on my sides and a body press against my back

"Hey there Ace, feel like a hook up?" The guy asked, grinding his pelvis against my back side. I could recognize that voice anywhere, it was my ex David

"No, David." I said, trying to get his hands off my body

"Awe, come on now baby, don't be like that!" He troed, tightening his grip on me and trying to tug me backward towards his truck

"Get off me David!" I yelled, trying again to claw his hands off me again

"I know you still love me Ace, come on! I'll show you how much I miss you." He chuckled, his hand sliding into the waistband of my jeans as tears started building up in my eyes. Then suddenly he was off of me

"She said back off you fucking bastard!" I heard a deep voice shout, before the crack of a bone could be heard. Spinning around I saw David hit the ground, blood pouring from his nose and Steele diving down after him, continuing the beat down. Guys flooded from all around the fire, pulling Steele off of David, holding him back. Lexi and Kira quickly came over to me and made sure I was okay, to which I nodded and assured them I was okay, watching Steele from the corner of my eye as he stared at me, slowly calming down before shaking free from the grasp of those who held him and stalking towards a truck that I assumed was his. I watched curiously as he ripped out of the field, leaving confussion on his wake.

Steele

I'd watched her since she'd gotten to the party, I knew who she was. In a town like this, everybody knew everybody, especially Ace, the daughter of local saint George Jobins. She was beautiful, to say the least. I'd had my eye on her for a couple years, but with a reputation like mine, no father would let his daughter go out with me. So far, I hadn't taken my eyes off of her, which didn't go unnoticed by my friends. She'd look at me over her shoulder and bite her lip before going back to dancing. My anger hit like a ton of bricks when I saw David King put his hands on her. Anybody with eyes could tell she wanted him off, but nobody did anything. Slowly, he started dragging her backwards before slowly sliding his hand into her jeans. And that was it. I jumped off the tailgate and stormed in that direction, yanking him off and beating the shit out of him, feeling a sadistic sense of joy when I felt his nose crack beneath my knuckles before I was drug off and was held away from him as everyone there mumbled to eachother, and I looked at Ace as I tried to calm down, her hazel eyes staring into my own. Once I was calm, I jerked myself away from the fuckers holding me and stalked towards my truck, jumping in and peeling out of the field towards home, thinking about her the entire way home.

Once in my room, I pulled my shirt off and tossed it on the floor before laying down on top of the blankets and went to sleep, dreading church tomorrow.
