Steele and I had stopped at his house so he could grab some spare clothes and a pair of plaid fleece pants

"You ready to go?" I questioned as Steele jogged down then stairs and into the kitchen where I was talking with his mother

"Yup. Dad said he would do my chores tonight." He explained as he stood behind the chair I was sitting on

"Alright; It was nice talking to you Mrs Grahms." I smiled as Steele took my hand and lead me out of the house and out to my truck. His arm quickly reached around my hip and into my back pocket, withdrawing my keys

"I'll drive, you can lay back in the passenger seat for a while." He smiled, leading me around the front of the truck

"M'kay. But this is the only time your allowed to drive my truck." I smiled before hopping into my truck and sliding the sear belt across my lap as Steele ran back around and jumped up into the drivers side

"Let's go!" He laughed, flicking the key before rolling out the driveway.

When we got to my house, Steele set up the living room while I cooked some chicken hurry with rice  for dinner

"Something smells reeeally good." Steele mumbled, walking into the kitchen where I was putting ingredients away and washing up the things I had used

"Foods in the oven." I explained, stretching to put something back on the top counter where it was kept

"Here." Steele chuckled, taking it from my hand and reaching past me. My breath hitched slightly as his hand rested on my waist and his chest pressed against my back. We both stood still for a moment before Steele stepped back slightly

"I should start the rice." I mumbled, walking over to the pantry and grabbing the bag of rice and dumping some in a pot and filling it with water before setting it on the stove top and turning it on. The kitchen was quiet for a while, neither of us really talking, just thinking. It was strange, really. With us, it was never quiet

"Why did you decide to try to mend things with Sarah?" Steele questioned from where he sat at the table

"People make mistakes; you should know that." I breathed, counting tiles on the floor

"She's been terrible to you for years and you call it a mistake?" He scoffed, standing up until I could see his feet on the floor only a foot from my own

"So? You hurt me worse than anyone else ever has and you have the balls to try and call her terrible?! Unbelievable!" I snarled, glaring up at him

"I told you that bet meant nothing!" He groaned, pushing his cap back a little on his head

"And she explained why she did what she did!" I snapped, putting my hands on my hips

"Oh, okay. So sorry works for her but for me its a restart button? And what about River. I doubt he lost his cellphone between the seats." Steele snapped, stepping towards me again, our chests pushed right up against each other

"Well I'm sorry the Sarah situation doesn't meet your standards. And as for River your right. He didn't drop his phone. I was talking to him about helping him set up a date with Kira!" I snarled, poking him in the chest

"I get that- wait, what?" He stopped, staring down at me with his mouth slightly ajar

"Yeah, he wanted to know about Kira, and if I could help him! But of course you blow up before thinking to ask what really happen-" I was cut off by touch hands grabbing my hips and jerking me against him, his lips rough against my own. Without hesitation, one of my hands grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him closet to me, and my other arm wrapped around his neck. The anger flowing between us made the kiss rough and heated, more so when he pushed my back against the fridge and his hand slid up my shirt a little ways. Suddenly the timer went off, and we flew apart, eyes wide, breathing rough
