matty healy, falling in love over night

and now i think its okay

"george?"

"mmmhhhhhh" he slurred

"are you still drunk?" i asked

"no me head just kills"

"could you watch grace? just while we cook?"

he sat up straight and instantly seemed a lot better

"of course"

we stood in the kitchen, i watched george with rose as it was all open plan. he really would make such a good dad one day. he was so gentle with rose and she just looked at him with such awe in her eyes.

"matty" i said nudging him so he would look

"he loves that kid"

"he does" i said nuzzling into his chest as he held me

4 hours later - 2pm

we had all showered and sat in the living room while rose went for a little nap. she wasn't use to gemma but she had warmed up to her so quickly.

we sat discussing last night

"denise wasn't as bad as i thought she was gonna be" i said

"because i let her take all her digs at me" gemma laughed

"what did she say?" george asked

"uhhh she called me a skank, said gabby was a real model and then told me matty never loved me"

matty avoided eye contact with her for this

"but i mean we knew that" she laughed

"gem-"

"hey, no. it's okay, the past is the past. we have to not hate each other cos of my two girl okay?"

"thanks gemma" matty said nodding

"anyways" george said

"how's caroline then?"

as soon as gemma mentions her name george started to blush, i could tell he really liked her

"we've been together like 8 months now and she's everything, she really is!" he gushed

"do you remember kate george?"

"oh god" moaned matty

"i do gemma" george laughed

"kate?" i asked confused

"george's ex from years ago" matty told me

"she was a MESS" gemma laughed

"i wonder how she is sometimes" george said

"me too" matty added

"she's okay! she moved to birmingham last i heard, she's engaged and happy" gemma told us all. george's face cleared and he seemed as if a weight had been taken off his broad shoulders

"wait i don't get it? why was she a mess?"

"we were really young like, 16 and she did a lot of drugs and her home life was terrible, she was kicked out a lot and lived with me for the best part of a year" george said

"but then she tried to take her own life, i mean we still don't know if it was an accident or what, but she moved after that, social services and we never heard from her again"

"did, did lia know?" i asked, george nodded

"she tried to help me find her, she knew how much it broke me"

"i'm so sorry george" i said

"it's okay, as long as she's okay?" he asked at gemma

"we should all go see her one day, i know that she'd love to. i speak to her a lot actually, she e should arrange something"

"definitely" matty said as george nodded

"yeah definitely"

i felt nice, gemma was from their last and i was thankful that she was here to share their last with me. i loved to learn about what they were like before i knew them. it felt weird because they were basically strangers when i heard about their past but it felt familiar.
i couldn't believe he told lia, i couldn't believe she tried to help him find her but then again that sounded like my lia. she was kind.

"you okay?" matty said moving closer to me

"yes" i said kissing his lips as george and gemma groaned

"get a room" george said

"so gem, i know you said you haven't but have you met someone?" i asked

she blushed

"she has" said matty

"spill all" i begged

"his name is harrison and it's not really serious but, but he's just like me"

"a reader and traveler then?" i asked

"yes! he's so intelligent and caring, he looks at me and i can tell he's never want to hurt me in anyway"

matty shifted uncomfortably

"i'm happy for you gem" he said

"i just don't wanna jinx it" she said

"he sounds lovely" i told her

"i really like him" she giggled

i was happy for her, the way she described him he reminded me exactly of her. sweet and interesting, she said he'd never hurt her and i believe that. she doesn't deserve anymore pain, she's endured enough.

"thanks guys" i said

"huh?" matty said

"for what?" asked gemma

"yeah for what?" george added

i shrugged

"for making rose's birthday so special, you are the best people ever and i'm so glad i have you l around me"

"ew" said george

"come here loser" gemma said bombarding me with a hug

"love you guys" i said

"love you" said gemma

"love ya" said george
