Moonlit Lover

This June bred boy
with his heaven thick lashes
and pulled down mouth,
corners in a constant frown
for the world he finds so perplexing.
For how he tries to present himself
as always criticizing, censuring,
unless he's with me.

I put my head on his shoulder,
and his breath came quick.
That's when I knew I had him.
He was mine.
But for how long, I couldn't know.
