The sun was setting; the red and yellow coloured sky mixed together like a beautiful watercoloured painting, causing Y/n to temporarily space out as she looked out of her window.
It seemed that she would have to be spending Valentine's Day all alone.
She crossed her arms as her gaze fell to the floor, sulking over this fact like she had been for the past couple of hours.
Every other couple was probably out enjoying a candlelit dinner, a walk in the park, hell maybe even just a movie.
But it wasn't like she expected something like that from Simon, she knew he had gone through a lot and that it was hard for him to change from the cold hearted killer facade he had put on for so very long.
But why couldn't he just relax for once? Everything was alright, he didn't need to act so tough anymore.
Maybe he didn't know how to let his guard down? And perhaps that act had been a part of him for so long that he wouldn't even know how to completely feel like himself again even if he tried.
Y/n thought about her boyfriend a lot. He was very complicated, but this just made him more captivating to her.
It was probably best if she just ignored the fact that she was alone.
She and him did get into their relationship a few months ago, guess he wants to take things slow. Painfully slow for that matter.
after thirty minutes of not paying attention to whatever show was on and being completely lost in thought, a sturdy sounding knock on the door was enough to bring her back to her senses.
Y/n stood up and opened the door, she was shocked once the door opened and revealed the man that she was thinking about basically all day.
He seemed uneasy as he leaned against the wall, trying to keep a calm and collected attitude once setting his eyes on her. He cleared his throat and gave a slight smile,
"I apologize for arriving so late and.. without telling you I would be coming..."
Y/n couldn't help but smirk, well wasn't he formal as ever.
Since he totally made her wait all day for him, she decided to mess around with him a bit.
"Let me guess... you came over and brought me flowers so late at night because you were hoping for me to give you... something back?"
She asked in a sort of flirty voice.
Simon gave her a serious look, trying to process what she was implying before it sunk in.
The blush was obvious on his pale face once he realized how his actions may of come off as.
He stood up straight, his smile wavering a little bit.
"I.. wasn't thinking of such a thing. If you'd like you can take the flowers and I'll be leaving.."
Y/n grinned at the sight of her boyfriend, struggling to keep his composure as he had the deep feeling that he may have screwed things up already.
"hey hey! I was joking!"
Simon frowned at Y/n's little attempt at being playful. He hated feeling embarrassed like this, and as much as he loved her, talking like that to him made him feel like he was about to lose it.
He stayed silent as he handed her the flowers he bought, and walked in after she had stepped aside to let him in.
"So why didn't you call me? Or at least come earlier? Maybe we could've gone out on a proper date for once."
She softly spoke, mumbling that last bit. Blackquill sighed and tried to come up with some reason,
but he couldn't think of anything.
Truth was he didn't even remember it was Valentine's Day and had even forgotten the silly holiday had even existed.
Nevertheless he didn't want to make himself out to be even more of a jerk.
"I didn't intend on upsetting you. I had just thought a surprise visit would excite you...that's all..."
Y/n would've further questioned him, but she was just so happy he eventually decided to show up.
"Don't worry about it, I'm glad you came."
Simon seemed a lot less stressed after those words, he chuckled softly as she happily took his hand in hers and led him over to the living room where she had been mindlessly watching the television a few moments ago.
"I'll go get us drinks!"
Y/n stepped over into the kitchen, deciding to go with a bottle of 'grape juice' as the drink of choice.
She popped off the cap and poured the liquid into two glasses, feeling glad that she happened to have this drink stored in her pantry.
She took a stride back into the living room, placing the two glasses on top of the small table in front of the sofa.
Simon didn't take his eyes off of the tv, he was unimpressed by what he was seeing but for some reason he felt like he couldn't look away.
"Ooh do you like this show!?"
Y/n asked, earning a scoff from Simon.
He laughed and looked over at her with a smirk.
"Hmph, You think I'd enjoy watching a show like this?"
Honestly yeah, a show called the steel samurai definitely sounded like something that would peak his interest.
And as if he could read her thoughts he glared at her before changing the channel to something else.
"Well of course I don't! It's Ridiculous."
"Alright alright whatever you say!"
She replied, giggling at her boyfriends defensive behaviour.
They both drank the 'grape juice' and talked for a while, not about anything too interesting of course.
But it was fun, the two feeling happy as they shared their time together.
After some time passed they both got comfortable, and Y/n rested her head on his shoulder.
He tensed up, he wasn't used to such affection. However after a while he was able to process what was going on and he eventually began to relax.
Y/n placed her arm around his waist as he proceeded to put an arm over her, keeping her close to him.
She felt safe in his arms, and she could hear the sound of his heart pounding against his chest.
This was the reason she fell in love with him from the start, she knew about this soft side to him and adored when he finally let go and just loved her without restraint.
As the two began to grow tired, Simon gave y/n a sweet little kiss.
"You're so perfect."
He murmured softly, Y/n smiled as she closed her eyes. Feeling flattered and taken off guard by the sudden complement.
as she was about to say something back she opened her eyes to notice that he had already fallen asleep.
He looked so peaceful...his cheeks slightly dusted a rosy colour, and his hair a little messy.
It was honestly really cute.
"I love you..."
She whispered, before closing her eyes once more and sleeping.
A/n: I'm back y'all!
writers block sucks, but I feel like I'm getting the hang of things again.
Also I'm so shocked this book has so many views.
Honestly I don't expect people to ever read my stuff but the fact that you guys seem to like it keeps me inspired 💖
I hope this was okay though! I still feel like a terrible writer.. but I did try with this one lol.
