"hello?... is anyone here?"
Y/n cautiously stepped into the office, scanning the room for any sign of the cute defence attorney that she had been trying to get in contact with for the past three weeks.
It was odd, really... her and Phoenix were getting along very well the last time they were together.
The two were watching a movie, a romantic one, only to make fun of it though.
He would keep making snarky remarks about how terrible the acting was or just joke about how stupid the plot was.
Let's just say y/n was laughing a lot that night, she began to get very sleepy and ended up falling asleep using Phoenix as her personal pillow.
Is that why he was avoiding her? Gosh, Y/n must of apologized a million times... he said it was fine, but then why the sudden change?
The upset Y/n took a seat on the sofa, trying to not think about it too much.
Phoenix was usually super honest and open, this was probably just all in her head, maybe he was just busy. Right? That had to be it.
As she snapped out of her thoughts, she noticed a stray piece of paper crumpled up on the coffee table in front of her..
Weird, why would Phoenix put garbage on a perfectly clean table?
Y/n had nothing better to do so she picked up the paper ball and unfolded it, pressing it down on the flat surface to get rid of all the crinkles.
It really stresses me out that I have feelings for someone again.
I know I should be more trustful, but it's hard to love when all I remember is how much it hurt me in the past..
Just as she was in the middle of reading this, she heard someone turn the handle.
She panicked, maybe showing up to a friends place and going through their stuff wasn't a good idea!
She crumpled up the paper and threw it back near the desk, as the guy she was waiting for came in with a very upset look on his face.
"Hey..! It's good to see you're back!"
His sad look turned to one of pure shock, he looked over at Y/n with wide eyes as he nervously gulped.
"Y-Y/n! What are you d-doing here?"
He seemed on edge, she noticed this but didn't want to bother him by asking what was wrong.
"Well I wanted to see you.. is there something wrong with that?"
Y/n tried to be intimidating as she spoke, but she couldn't hide how upset she was that someone so close to her would just stop talking to her like that, Phoenix frowned.
"N-no... sorry.
I've just, been busy."
Y/n found that very hard to believe.
For one thing, Phoenix was completely avoiding eye contact with her.. and how could he be so busy he couldn't even respond to a text?
It was time to cross examine this liar.
"Really..? Are you telling me the truth?"
He stayed silent, y/n sighed and walked over to the door.
"I'm sorry.. for whatever I did to make you hate me."
He turned to her as she opened the door, he felt pretty awful.. so he quickly spoke up.
