Chapter 2.

I got back to my apartment around dusk. I live in an alright apartment, it has one room, a living room connected to a kitchen, and 1 bathroom. I unlocked the door and walked in. I checked my messages; Kyle left me a message asking about my mom. I'll have to call him tomorrow and tell him about it. I threw my shoes in a corner and flopped down on the couch; I dozed off to sleep for a moment but woke up when my stomach started rumbling.

I checked the time and it was past 8pm. I wandered around the kitchen to look for something to eat. Oh yeah, I have school tomorrow guess I should do a bit studying. I ordered a pizza, sat down and studied a bit, then went back to sleep.

The next morning I woke up from the sound of a truck outside. "What the hell" I looked at my alarm clock, it was past 8am. "Oh fudge I'm gonna be late," I rolled out of bed and shuffled into the bathroom.

I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and got dressed. I wore a paramore T-shirt and a pair of gray pants. I grabbed a pop-tart and ran out the door. I ran downstairs and saw a moving truck unloading stuff in the apartment below mine. "I guess I'll have a new neighbor, hope it's not some annoying old lady". I grabbed my bike off the rack and headed to school.

I parked my bike in the rack, and walked into school.

"Hey Rori! Wow I'm surprised to actually see you at school." My friend Tabitha came up to me. She really looks like one of those Beverley Hills girls, long blonde hair, light blue eyes, big boobs, 5'7 ft tall, and a slight tan. Even though she looks like the evil bitch cheerleader, she's actually pretty laid back.

"Oh hey, yeah I came back today to take that stupid test we have in math." I said.

"You only come to school like 3 times a week, or if we have a test to take. You really should drop out" she said.

"Haha you sound just like Kyle" I laughed.

We walked into the school to first bell. Me and Tabitha are both in the 11th grade; we've known each other since 9th grade.

I helped her out when she was being hassled by some guy's and we've been friends ever since.

"Well if it isn't Ms. Warner, happy to see that you actually decided to come to school today" my teacher, Mr. Howard said.

"Well yeah I was able to leave my illegitimate child, with my baby's daddy." I said sarcastically.

He scowled at me. I laughed all the way to my seat. Almost all of my teachers hate me cause the school bent its rules for me. Before class started I noticed everyone was crowded around each other.

"What's going on over there?" I asked Tabitha.

"Oh over there, remember a few months ago when that guy Joshua Abel, had to leave school because of some problems, well he came back a few days ago. You remember how popular he was, well he's even more popular now" she said.

Let me explain, back in like January he had to leave because his mom and dad were having marital problems and he had to go live with his Dad.

"Wow, never thought he'd come back," I said in surprise.

"Yeah, but you should see him, he looks even better than he did before" she said in excitement.

Class started, and everyone around Joshua cleared away. I was surprised when I saw his face; he looked nothing like he did a few months ago. In fact it was like he was an entirely different person.

Before he had medium length blonde hair, he was kinda skinny, dark blue eyes and he was about 5'6. This guy had short black hair, he's buff, it looks like he has almost blue eyes, and he looks taller than 6ft. the old Joshua looks like a nerd compared to this one.

Makes me wonder if he actually is Joshua. I was thinking how different he looked from the old Joshua, when he turned and looked at me. He looked me straight in the eye, and we stared at each other.

What the hell is he looking at? He smiled then turned away from me.

What's with him, for some reason I'm pissed now!

1st, 2nd, and 3rd bell passed quickly. I headed off to lunch, to get something to eat. "Where do you wanna eat lunch today?" Tabitha asked. "Lets sit out behind the school" I said. We walked to the back of the school, and guess who was there, Joshua.

"Well hello there ladies" he grinned. "Hi Joshua" Tabitha said. "Hi" I waved. "I see you came here to eat your lunch" he said. "Yeah, but if were in your way, we can leave" she said blushing.

I glanced at her. So she likes him, too bad he looks like a player.

"Actually I was just leaving, well see-ya" he walked off. I noticed Tabitha watched him until he turned the corner, then she sighed.

"Soo, do you like Joshua?" I asked.

"W-what! No" she stammered. "Sure you don't, I mean why would you watch him, and blush while talking to him, and all that stuff if you didn't like him?" I smiled.

"Oh shut up. I just think he's handsome, and gorgeous, and smart" she giggled.

"Yeah ok. Let's eat before lunch is over." We sat down.

I took the test I had to, and before I knew it school was over. "You wanna go somewhere and hang out?" Tabatha asked.

"Sorry, I have to go to the garage, and get my paycheck" I jumped on my bike and sped down to the garage.

I saw Kyle outside smoking a cigarette.

He saw me comin' and put it out.

"I see your still riding that old piece of junk" he said when I pulled up.

"Hey don't hate the bike" I said.

"And what about you, I see you're still smoking. If your dad saw you smoking he'd kick your ass." I told him.

"Yeah right" he scoffed. "Seriously you should stop what if you get cancer or something" I said angrily.

"Trust me, I won't get cancer. No human illness can affect me" he faked laughed.

"Yeah-yeah superman, give me my paycheck for the month" I walked inside. "Wait a second; tell me what happened with your mom." He folded his arms across his chest.

"It was just the usual, her passed out somewhere in the house, surrounded by beer bottles and cigarette buds." I shrugged.

"Why do you even care?" I asked.

"Well you are my best friend, beside's I'm worried you might come home one day and find your mom dead or something." He looked down.

"Thanks for the concern, but anything that happens to that old drunk will be her own damn fault. Now can I have my cash so I can go home" I said annoyed.

"Yeah, here you go" he handed me an envelope full of money.

"Thanks, I'll see you Wednesday" I waved good bye, then hoped on my bike and headed home.

The delivery truck was long gone, but I noticed that my new neighbor had moved in. I hurried upstairs, so I wouldn't have to introduce myself.
