MELODY BREATHED IN A SHARP breath as she awoke. her body shot straight up as she tried to catch her breathe. her eyes wondered her surroundings, she now realising she was no longer in the enchanted forest but more of a beach, facing the still ocean. many thoughts went through melody's head as she dipped her hand into the sand next to her. enclosing her hand around some sand grains. she lifted her hand back up, releasing the sand from her in palm slowly, watching the sand flow gently back to the ground. where was she. continuing to look around big green matter behind her caught her eye's attention as she looked behind her. a dark jungle was placed behind her. she stared at the jungle, peering inbetween the thick trees. melody huffed out as she stood from her sitting position in the sand to get a better look at what she was dealing with. she turned back around to face the ocean, staring off at the sea line. there was no sight of any other land in sight. where did rumple send her was the only thing going around her. she looked down at her tattered dress and she thought about what she was going to do and how she would get back home. lifting her eyes she gazed at the jungle again. seeing as it was probably her only option, other than sitting on this beach for the rest of her life, she decided to adventure into the jungle seeing what inhabitants were there, or perhaps she was the only one here. taking in a deep breathe before her feet started moving towards an opening within the large trees. the closer she got the more her stomach began to twist and turn with nerves. the trees created a thick layer above with leaves making the jungle incredibly dark, but light enough to see where she was heading. melody's jaw clenched as she stepped into the jungle, the temperature suddenly dropping along with the amount of light.

as she explored around the deepening jungle of trees and greenery she began to smile a little to herself. this was all so exciting and new. she knew where to go in the enchanted forest but this place she didn't have a clue and melody found that kinda fun and exciting, sending butterflies to her stomach, each one filled with excitement and nervous about this brand new place. this place seemed essentially harmless to melody. she hadn't seen an sigh of any actual living organisms here yet, a few bugs here and there but no big animals, which was both good and bad. she hadn't seen the whole island yet, that would take a while, but from the half hour of walking and exploring nothing has crossed her path yet. tilting her head up she peered through the leaves of the trees to gaze up at the now rising night sky as clouds rolled over head. melody let out a trapped breathe. a slight darkness from the evening sky made the jungle turn a darker shade, the lack of light began to make it difficult for melody to see. due to the lack of light and her not knowing where to go she decided she'd head back to the beach. at least there she felt kind of at home. melody turned on her heels as she made her way back the way she came heading towards the beach she was at when she had arrived here. with her head down she watched the floor clear fully to make sure she didn't trip over. her eyes became fixated on the floor, but hearing a snap from a bunch and the sound of leaves rustling came from slightly behind her, to her left. melody paused as her head snapped in the direction of noises. she stared at the spot, waiting for something to appear. she waited, not moving an inch, remaining so silent. only the sound of her light breathing could be heard. her eyes began to scan the area, only her eyes moving. as melody went to take another step a hooded figure stepped out of the shadows in front of her. she paused and a light gasp escapes her parted lips. the hooded figure kept his head down and face covered as he rose a bow, the arrows direction in line with melody. melody readied herself, jaw clenched and fists balled beside her. as if in slow motion the figure standing in front of her released the arrow that sat comfortably on the bow, the arrow heading straight for melody. on perfect time, melody reached out grabbing the wooden staff of the arrow with her right hand, stopping the arrow from piercing her. looking up at the figure with widened eyes she through the arrow down in front of them, their head following the arrow. as soon as the arrow left melody's hand she bolted in the other direction, running as fast as she could. her lungs burned and her feet ached as she ran. she could hear the figure not too far behind her, following her. she spun her head to look back for just a second and as she did her foot got hooked on the root of a tree. melody didn't make a single noise as she hit the floor, landing on her stomach and hands. lifting her head she pushed herself off the floor and hurried into some bushes mixed with other plants just beside her. she didn't have enough time to start running again or whoever was behind her would have caught her. she heard their footsteps approaching. she grabbed her face, a hand slapping over her mouth as she squeezed her eyes shut, knees brought up to her chest. the figure ran straight past her. a sigh of relief escape her and it felt like a weight was lifted off her shoulders. opening her eyes she glanced in the direction the figure had run in, watching to see if she could see them or any trace of them. nothing. she huffed as she stood from her crouched position, bolting for the beach. her legs moved as fast as they could, her feet smacking against the jungle floor. her arms swung past her, fist balled, giving her momentum as she ran. her long wavy hair swayed from side to side as her ripped and dirt patched dress bounced up as her legs would hit the flowy skirt, then it falling back down and then repeating itself. the edge of the jungle was in sight. melody's pace picked up as her eyes locked with the glorious ocean. passing the line where the jungle met the sand melody began to slow down, relief as her feet stepped onto the sandy bay. swinging her head over her shoulder to see if anyone had followed her she caught her breathe from running, her chest rising and falling quickly, panting for air. turning her attention back towards the ocean, she half smiled that only lasted a second before dropping. there was danger in the jungle, it was unsafe. a person, there were people here too. her bright blue eyes drifted down to look at her feet. she huffed to herself as she stepped forward towards the ocean. she began to think, think of something to do and how she would return home, but her trailing thoughts were cut short when she ran into a solid object in front of her. she fell back landing on her bottom as a result. she grunted as she fell. she swung her head up to see what she had carelessly run into. to her surprise it was another person, a silhouette. melody shuffled back on the sand, not taking her eyes of the silhouette in front of her. they uncrossed their arms as melody stood. "how'd you get here" the person spoke harshly at melody, a thick accent dripped off their tongue. melody stumbled with her words, trying to string a sentence together. "i fell through a portal" her words were rushed as she panicked. her eyes began to adjust to the fallen darkness making it a little easier to make out the features on the person's face. it was an obvious male with dark hair swooped to the side and out of his eyes. his frame was slim but still well built and he mostly tattered clothes that consisted of greens and browns from what she could see. he raised an eyebrow at her as he looked at her, more examining her. his eyes rolled down her body and back up again as his lips pressed together in anger. "you're a girl" he spoke with slight confusion and anger in his voice. "good observations" melody spat without thinking. he smirk at her comment, ever so slightly. she went to speak, blinking in the process but when she opened her eyes the boy that stood in front of her just moments before was now gone, vanished into thin air. melody chocked on her own words, looking around frantically for that boy. she was so confused as to what just happened. who was he and he is probably the one who could answer her questions. melody placed herself on the sand once again, bringing her legs up to her chest, hugging her knees with her arms wrapped safely around them. she rested her chin on her knees as she gazed out to the ocean once again.
