My life is as overwhelming as any celebrity.
My dad as Robert Downey Jr. aka Iron Man, my best friends are from Marvel and The Vampire Diaries, singer, part time model, paparazzis everywhere. I have a lot going on.
Oh, and did I mention I'm writing...
I realize my eyes were looking at him a little too long, so I spin around and blush slightly. I hear him chuckle, his cheeks the slightest bit pink.
"So," I start, "we need to figure out what type of story the song is going to have." Shawn looks deep in thought as we both sit on his bed.
"I have an idea. Since most of your songs are about relationships and hard times, maybe we can go with a similar aura?" I suggest.
"Yeah!" Shawn's eyes light up. "Maybe we can write a song about someone who loves this girl and he can't get her off his mind?"
"Yeah, and then maybe he tries to forget about the girl and move on?"
"Perfect!"
We work on the lyrics for about 2 hours, and we already got the melody.
"Okay, to be honest, most of my love songs are all about this one guy. I'm not sure about you?" I ask.
"Well, yeah. I guess," Shawn shrugs. He gives me a 'where-are-you-going-with-this' look.
"Perfect! then maybe the first line can be something like 'I can't write one song that's not about you'?" I sing.
"Yes! Great! I feel like the tempo of the song should be fast since that would match the most with the melody, so the next line can come right after."
"Can't..." I start thinking.
"Drink?" Shaw suggests.
"Without thinking about you?" I make up the words. "Is it too late to tell you that I need you?"
"What about: 'is it too late to tell you that, everything is useless if I can't meet you'?" That line is good, but the end doesn't match with the rest. Uhh... Useless? Not really. What would I feel if I can't have this perfect person?
"Everything means... NOTHING! Everything means nothing if I can't have you?"I finish singing.
"Oh, damn! That's perfect!" Shawn compliments as he writes everything down on a piece of paper. "Should we try singing it together with the guitar melody?"
"Yeah," I agree, holding up the paper so Shawn can see the notes and lyrics.
"One, two, three," Shawn starts strumming.
"I, can't write one song that's not about you,
Can't drink, without thinkin' about you.
Is it, too late to tell you that,
Everything means nothing if I can't have you?"
"Wow, that's great!" I exclaim. And that was the start of an amazing song. ;)
