The boys both thought that Richie might get yelled at for carrying Eddie around. Eddie hugged him harder and kissed the top of Richie's head. "...You can come in anytime you want" Sonia said. Richie grabbed Eddie's hand again. Eddie got down so he could sit on Richie's lap as he opened his mother's presents. Eddie got a comic book rack, new comics, and a few sweatshirts. Eddie knew that he would wear Richie's sweatshirts more than the ones his mom got him. The boys got up to leave. "Do I have to walk?" Eddie jokingly asked. "Get on, Shortie." Richie responded leaning down so Eddie could climb on his back. Eddie smacked Richie's head. He climbed on Richie's back. He felt safe in the embrace of Richie. They walked to the Tozier house, still holding hands.
