Easily broken. The words always ran through my head, no matter what I was doing I couldn't get them out. Wether I was working on a case or at home doing nothing, I could never get those words out, I couldn't stop thinking about them. Was I easily broken? I don't know. I don't know if I'm easily broken. I like to think I'm not, yet I still know I am. I work so hard on everything to prove to myself that I'm not, to prove to other people I'm not. I've put up walls and barriers that will never be taken down because of it. I have pushed people and situations away because of it. I don't want to be broken, yet I still get am. Everyone's words hurt me, there actions do to, how they look at me and act around me. I know people don't like me, they just think I'm a nerd. They don't want to be around me cause they think I'm weird. I wouldn't blame them though, I wouldn't want to be around someone like me either, yet I'm stuck with myself. I jumped as I was jerked out of my thoughts when I heard my office door open.
"Mr. Burr" I heard Washington say. I stood up and turned around to face him. He had someone new standing at his side and I felt my heart stop. He doesn't want me to keep him with me for a whole day does he, he doesn't want me to show him around. I mean he's a grown man with a job he can walk himself around right? Another think about me, I have major anxiety, except when I'm in the court room, then it's like everything in life I'm worried about fades away. "This is Alexander Hamilton" Washington said and I nodded. "He is going to be in the office beside you, I just thought I'd let you know first" he added and I smiled a forced smiled and walked over and stuck my hand out for him to shake.
"I'm Aaron Burr" I said quietly "it's a pleasure to meet you Alexander." His eyes got huge then he looked at me then at Washington then back at me then back at Washington. Finally his eyes landed on me.
"Your Aaron Burr" he breathed "like the Aaron Burr the one who is like the best lawyer in history, the one who won that case that no one could win and it kept getting brought back to court, the one about the lady who was accused of killing her husband when she really didn't and you knew that she didn't and you convinced them of it. Your the Aaron Burr who graduated Princeton in two years, I mean that's crazy how did you do that two years at Princeton. That's like one of the hardest schools in the nation. And you..."
"Yes I'm that Aaron Burr" I said softly with a hint I laughter in my voice. He looked me up and down then smiled.
"Oh my gosh I can't believe I'm gonna have an office next to you" he said and I smiled and nodded.
"You can stop in whenever" I said but I knew I would tell him other wise when Washington left. "Just don't bother me." I added and he nodded.
"Of course I'd never want to bother you." He said and I nodded.
"Well if you'd excuse me" I stared to say but Washington cleared his throat and I stopped talking.
"Actually Burr" he said and I looked up at him and nodded. "I was hoping you could take Alex here to lunch and get to know him a little better then you could show him around the office."
"But sir I have work to do" I said and he raised his eyebrows.
"Like what" he asked me and I looked down.
"Fine" I muttered "Ill take him to lunch." He nodded and I walked over to my desk and closed my laptop and slid it in its case then I saved what I was working on and turned my two computers off. I slid a few files back in the drawers where they went then I grabbed my keys out of the top drawer of my desk and I tuned around and it was just Alexander. Washington has left and Alexander was leaning against my door frame. I huffed and walked to him. "Where do you want to eat" I asked him as we were walking down the hall way.
"I don't care" he said and I nodded. I opened the door for him and we walked out side and to my car. "This is your car" he gasped and I nodded. "Isn't this like the most expensive SUV in the world" he said and I nodded.
"Yeah I guess that's what people call it" I said quietly and he nodded and I opened the door and I got in. He walked around and got in the other side.
"Wait it's customized" he said and I nodded.
"I didn't like the outside how it was like spikes or whatever and I didn't like the color of the seats so I just made them black and the outside smooth." I said and his jaw dropped.
"So your the only person in the world who owns this car" he asked me and I nodded. "That's so cool" he said then he looked at me. "Wait how much do you make a year" he asked me and I shrugged.
"I don't know a couple million maybe" I said and his eyes got huge.
"Your not even twenty one yet" he said and I laughed.
"That was one year though I don't make that much anymore" I said "that's when I have a bunch of good cases and get paid a lot from the cases." He nodded slowly and I pulled out. He kept talking and chattering throughout the whole ride. Dear god please let me make it through this lunch.
