Jaide paced around her room, her mind consumed with Alec. The way in which he held her, how he treated her, how he was sorry. Was he sorry? Did he really mean it? did he really not know what had happened since they had stop being friends?

Jaide sat on her bed as these questions made her head dizzy and her heart hurt all over again. She had successfully steered clear of Alec, purposefully went out whenever his family came over, or their was a get together. Birthday parties, Christmas and all big events were celebrated between the two families and somehow Jaide managed to stay away from Alec. It was now did she question why did this holiday change that? She had already spoken and fought with him enough the past week and now she had to deal with him for six weeks in a resort. She felt like she was about to go insane.

Alec rung the doorbell of the Summers house determined to get through to Jaide. Gracie answered engulfing Alec in a hug, befored he could say hello

‘hey gracie, is jaide around?’

‘yeah of course, come in, she’s in her room, oh my gosh its been a while since you came round here asking for my girl’

alec smiled politely ‘probably too long to fix things’

‘i'm sure you will, you guys made a start I heard this afternoon, hey’

alec groaned ‘of course mum told you’

‘she has too. I'm her bestfriend’

‘mmm’

‘alright you go upstairs and make my girl smile again’

Alec creased his eyebrows in confusion as Gracie simply shook her head

‘don’t worry just go’

***

‘let me in’

‘no’

‘please’

‘go away alec’

‘nope’

‘please go away’

‘fine’ jaide smiled but her smile quickly disappeared when the constant knocking started

jaide sat on her bed, refusing to let the knocking irritate her. she opened a magazine trying to focus on the words on the page

‘ugh, five minutes that’s all you get’

alec smiled as he walked in and laid on her bed

‘get off’

‘okay, only cause I want to talk, not yell’

Alec got of the bed while jaide sat down

‘what do you want’

‘I want to tell you that before I was out of line, I knew something bad happened with tommy but didn’t realize how bad. Honestly when we stopped being friends I didn’t want to think of you and whenever you were brought up in conversation I ignored it – ‘

‘great apology’

‘- I shouldn’t have, I know you better than anyone and I should have known, friends or not. If you got that upset by the mention of your dad then whatever he did was a dick move and I would happily kill him for you, but that would also mean I would have to hurt myself because I stooped to his level. This holiday, I want to start fresh with you, forget the last five years we haven’t spoken and go back to the old us, do you remember, people told us nothing could separate us and now look?’

‘I cant just forget the past six years’

‘I know, but can we atleast try being friends, we don’t even have to be friends that like each other’

Jaide laughed and Alec smiled

‘I miss that laugh, I miss you ’

Alec hugged her whispering ‘just think about it’

He left the room, leaving jaide standing in the door way

‘I missed you too’

Jaide sat in her maths class pretending to know what the teacher was talking about and trying not to stab both the boys next to her with a pencil

‘so how are you spending your summer, think you can put me in your calendar, say after party private show just me and you?’

Jaide rolled her eyes at Dean ‘sorry babe i'm going to Fiji’

‘baby I can just go in your suitcase’

‘dean, your head wouldn’t fit in the suitcase’ Alec snorted and Dean rolled his eyes.

‘oh okay tough guy, what about you, how many girls you be with this Summer?’ Jaide scoffed at Dean’s lack of grammar and where his head that was forever stuck in the gutter.

‘just one’ Alec winked at Jaide, making Jaide smile and causing her stomach to flip
