Chapter 6: Never Knew

•Maddie's Pov•
The bell rang for lunch.
"I gotta go to my locker" I say, looking at Asher.
"Want me to come with you?" He asked.
I shake my head "I'm fine" I smile.
"Alright, I'll meet you at my table?"
I nod.
I leave the classroom and head to my locker.
I put in the books I used and get my next ones out.
I slam my locker door shut, I turn around and there she is, the queen bee of the whole grade, mackenzie zale and her crew.
"Oh hey, loser. Got some glasses?" Mackenzie says, getting close to my face.
I nod "yeah"
She laughs and quickly pulls them off of my face and hands them to Nadia Thune.
"Give then back" I plead.
"No can do" Mackenzie says laughing.
"What did I ever do to you?"
"You took Asher away from me"
"I didn't do anything. Asher's a big boy, he can make his own decisions" I say, defending myself.
She pushes me against my locker.
"Aw is the little baby going to cry?" she says in a baby voice.
My voice shakes, I let all my tears out.
I hear the girls throw my glasses to the ground and step on them.
I hear footsteps running.
"Maddie, are you okay?" Asher says, helping me up as I lay my head in his chest.
"Mackenzie, leave her a fucking alone!" Asher screams.
"Your glasses make you look nerdier then you already are!" Mackenzie smirks.
I then loose it and shout.
"IT ISNT MY FAULT I NEED THEM! HOW ABOUT YOU FUCKING PISS OFF AND LEAVE ME ALONE! SO WHAT I HAVE GLASSES? WELL I HAVE THEM BECAUSE IM BLIND! YEAH, GO AHEAD AND LAUGH. I DONT FUCKING CARE ANYMORE. ASHER DOESNT LIKE YOU SO LEAVE HIM ALONE AS WELL!" I scream, crying that my secrets out.
"I'll be back!" Mackenzie says as she walks off with her crew following behind her.
Asher picks up my broken glasses and places them on my face.
"Hey Mads, I'm so sorry about Mackenzie. I never knew..." he says softly, I can't blame him for not knowing I'm blind, nobody but my family knows.
"It's okay" I say softly as I rub my thumb on his cheek.
"Do you wanna go home?" he asks softly.
I nod my head.
I call my mom and tell her Asher's bringing me home.
We sign out at the office and walkout of the school.
Asher opens the door for me and closes it, I smile softly.
"Thanks"
"Anytime, princess" he smiled and starts the engine as I put my address on his phone.
"Mind if we take a small detour?" He asks softly.
"Of course, go ahead" I smile as Asher pulls up at the mall, we walk to the frozen yogurt store that we had our first date at.
I smile as we walk inside.
"What can I get you?" The cashier asks.
Asher looks at me, i nod.
He orders a mint chocolate, just like our first date. We pay and sit in a booth.
"Thank you for this, Asher" I smile.
"Anytime" he smiles as we both eat our ice cream.
We finish eating and talk for awhile.
I look at Asher and smile.
He stands up and comes to my side of the booth and goes on one knee.
I gasp, shocked and teary-eyed.
He holds a ring, looking up at me.
"Madison" he says smiling, but also nervous.
