3rd person POV

Todoroki hunched over the bathroom toilet as another wave of petals came up.

Why did it have to come to this? He thought.

Why couldn't I have just been stronger?

--1 week earlier--

It's your power, Isn't it?!

Midoriya's words rang through Todoroki's head again. Why couldn't he stop thinking about him?

All of a sudden, Todoroki caught a glimpse of fluffy green hair. Midoriya had stopped at his locker and was talking to Uraraka and Iida.

"The homework last night was pretty hard, wasn't it?" Said the One For All user.

"You know, Midoriya-kun, if you ever need help with homework, I will always be there to lend a helping hand!" Iida said with a grin.

"Same here!" Uraraka exclaimed in a bubbly voice.

Todoroki's mind was plagued with thoughts about the green-haired boy.

Then the first petal worked its way through his throat.

Todoroki's eyes widened and he rushed to the bathroom. He stood there for a few seconds until he choked up the petal and it flew into his hand. It was a leaf-green color with blobs of black. Todoroki instantly recognized it as the color of Midoriya's hair.

What does this mean? He thought.

Then, he remembered back to when he found out about the Hanahaki disease. It was a disease that forms because of one-sided love. There are only 3 possible outcomes of it:

1. The object of your affections reciprocates your feelings.

2. You get the petals surgically removed, but your feelings for that person disappear too.

3. You die.

Wait, does this mean I like him?

Midoriya's freckled smile and bubbly voice flooded his thoughts and he realized, Yeah, I like him.

But then a worse thought popped into Todoroki's head.

Endeavor is going to make me get the surgery.

Todoroki never wanted to lose his feelings for Midoriya, even if it meant dying. Right then and there, in the school bathroom, he made a promise to himself that he would never get the surgery, even if he died because of it.

He couldn't lose the one who had saved him.
