Warnings: Blood, injury description

Whenever the Guardians made an appearance on earth, it was always a fun time. Rocket, Thor, and Bruce would always crack jokes, Nat and Gamora would pretend like no one else was there, though they would still crack some smiles at things they overheard, and surprisingly, Drax and Peter Parker got along great. All with Nebula, Tony, and Rhodey always commentating from the sidelines. And then there was the other Peter. The intergalactic, cocky, wanna-be-smooth Peter who always seemed to be around you.

Not that you were necessarily complaining.

"So you saw me out there, right? I totally kicked that assassin's ass," Peter said confidently. You couldn't help the smile on your face as you all made your way outside the compound.

"Oh yeah, you were a total badass, Star Kid," you teased.

"Hey, hey, that's Starlord to you, miss," Peter said with a stern expression, though you knew it was as superficial as it could be. You met his hazel eyes and it only took him about five seconds before a smile spread across his face.

"You're all talk, Quill," you said, suggestively quiet. "All bark and no bite."

"Oh trust me," Peter matched your tone, "I've got plenty of bite. Maybe someday you'll see just how much."

"And you guys aren't sticking around this time? I have a feeling your captain would want to see some very specific things he can only find on earth," Tony asked suggestively, pulling you and Peter out of your own little world, and everyone seemed to roll their eyes but him.

"Yeah Quill, anything you want to see while you're here?" you added almost without thinking. At this point, it was a habit. A flicker of interest splashed across Peter's face before he pursed his lips in self control.

"Tempting, definitely. But we'll be back to earth soon," he said with that trademark Quill charm. "Don't worry," he sent a wink your way. "And, y'know, I gave you that communicator for a reason Y/N."

"Yeah, yeah, have a good flight, Quill," you responded just as cheekily.

Everyone said their goodbyes and the Avengers watched as the Guardians loaded onto the Milano, and flew back up into space. Your eyes tracked the ship as far as you could, and there was a silence among the group until the ship left the atmosphere. You were expecting someone to say something, and the fact that it was Sam was no surprise.

"Are you two going do something about that or are we just going to have to keep putting up with seeing it?" You tried to suppress the smirk on your face.

"We just like to give each other shit. If you can't handle that, that's your problem, Wilson." A chuckle was thrown around the rest of the Avengers.

"Don't act like you don't make bedroom eyes at each other. It's nasty to witness," Sam said, still holding onto the stern tone.

"Are you guys going to get together sometime soon?" Nat asked with a much softer voice.

You waved your hand dismissively. "I don't think so. I mean, he's literally all over the galaxy all the time. Like I said, we just like to give each other shit," you said definitively. "Better question is, when are you guys gonna stop asking?" You pushed the door open into the compound, unaware of your team's knowing glances behind you.

**

You sat on your bed in the compound biting the inside of your cheek. It was your best defense to try to calm down your breathing. You were supposed to go on a solo recon mission tomorrow, and while it was straightforward and easy enough, it was still your first solo mission. Solo missions were boring, lonely. Not to mention anything could happen. So you were nervous. You didn't want to admit it, but you were. And you could talk to your team about it, but for some reason, you wanted to talk to someone else.
