Chapter 50

We were introduced to Dr. Vasquez, an OB, and she already holds my medical records from Dr. Prieto as they talked beforehand. It's good that she knows everything already that I didn't have to go on to details with her regarding my illness and it saves me from discussing from point zero to now.  

She did a general health exam on me and asked some questions like when was my last period and such. She is more focused on the symptoms that I experienced and still experiencing now these days.

More than the usual tiredness, frequent urination, nausea, and other pregnancy symptoms, I haven't had anything more than that. Ayon sa pinaka latest na tests din sa akin ni Dr. Prieto ay ayos naman ang lahat sa akin.

"That's good." Dr. Vasquez nodded. "We are just going to have to watch this..." She tapped her chest. "...as the baby grows. Hopefully it wouldn't grow faster than the baby. We wouldn't have any problem if that happens but I want you to call me or Dr. Prieto as soon as possible once you feel shortness of breath."

Both me and Warayne glanced at each other then nodded at her. Alam na namin ang consequence if I continue my pregnancy but I am still grateful on how dedicated my doctors are with me, pati na rin si Warayne sa akin. He arranged all of this for me kahit hindi siya naging sang-ayon sa aking desisyon kamakailan lang.

"Base from this...." She counted the weeks silently and looked back at us. "9 going to 10 weeks. But we'll set up an ultrasound so we'll see exactly how far along are you." Ngiti niya.

Base from my research, the growth of the baby at 9 weeks would have reached the monumental stage already and I am excited to see our baby from the monitor.

Dr. Vasquez readied the room for me and in just a few minutes, I am already lying on the bed. Nakaupo sa upuan kaharap ng machine sa aking gilid si Dr. Vasquez at si Warayne naman ay nakatayo sa kabilang gilid ng kama hawak ang aking kamay.

Hindi pa man nagsisimula si Dr. Vasquez ay halata na ang kaba ni Warayne dahil simula ng mahiga ako ay kagat na niya ang kanyang labi and he keeps on looking down on my stomach.

It's showing a little now compare from last week pero hindi pa rin ganoon kalaki. Wala na akong kasyang pantalon at ang mga bra ko ay masikip na rin sa akin. Ramdam ko na ang unti-unting pagbabago sa aking katawan.

A cold gel was applied on my abdominal and then Dr. Vasquez pressed the ultrasound probe on it moving it lightly from left to right as she focused on the screen in front of her.

Kami naman ni Warayne ay napatitig nalang sa flat screen sa aming harapan showing a black and white something that moves. I don't see any baby nor understand what it is.

"We want to make sure how far along are you and if the baby is healthy." Sabi niya at napahigpit naman ang hawak ni Warayne sa aking kamay habang titig na titig sa screen. "Oh!"

From the flat screen in front of us ay sabay kami na napatingin ni Warayne kay Doktora at bigla akong kinabahan sa kanyang naging reaksiyon.

"Is our baby fine?" Tanong ko kaagad sabay tingin sa screen.

Ginalaw niya ang screen at iniharap ng kaunti sa amin ni Warayne. Ang mga mata niya ay nakatingin lang sa screen at parang inaaral ito ng mabuti. Pagkatapos ng ilang segundo ay nangiti naman siya sa akin kaya kumalma ako kahit papaano.

"They are fine. You are 10 weeks along and the babies has officially graduated from embryo to fetus, and with that change are a whole bunch of others happening in their development." Ngiti niya habang nakatingin pa rin sa screen sa kanyang harapan.

My eyes are fixed on the big screen and my heart flutter in my chest as I see our baby like a size of a strawberry taking in a human form. I can already see how the arm's are taking shape on his body though it's still very tiny.
