Chapter 1 - The House of Pirates

Start from the beginning

"That's your car?" I ask. "Oh my God! That's so sick!" I say.

"Get in. What you saw in the park today was just the beginning." She says, opening the car door. I just stare at her. We drive through New York City.

Asha's POV

I drive Moose to The Vault. When we get there, it's already night time. "We're here." I say.

"What the heck is this palce?" Moose asks, looking around. I walk in and he follows me. "Welcome to my house." I say, opening the door to the elevator. "The house of Pirates."

"Nice place. It's a little small to live in." Moose says looking around. I hit a button.

"That's because we're in an elevator." I tell him. When we get to the floor of the vault I speak up again. "My parents converted this place when Luke and I were kids. Luke is my brother, by the way. We all live and train upstairs. It's kind of like a secret hide out." I tell Moose, pushing open the doors. "We call this the Vault." I say.

"This place is off the chain!" He says.

"Hey Ash. Who's this?" Luke asks, walking up to us and pointing to Moose.

"This is Moose. I saw him in the park today battling Kid Darkness. And he won. I got the whole thing on my phone." I say. "I'll show Moose around then I'll show you the video of him battling Kid Darkness." I start showing Moose around. "Thing 1 and Thing 2 over there," I say pointing to them. "They're the Santiago Twins." They walk to us.

"We saw you dancing in the park this morning. You were amazing. You were incredible." They say. "Amazing. You are from another planet. Your own planet, you know? You're own world. You're just amazing man. Amazing." They walk away just as Jacob walks up to us.

"Hey Jacob. Meet Moose." I say. He shakes Moose's hand.

"Nice to meet you Moose. Great job in the park today." Jacob says.

"Wait, how does everyone know about that?" Moose asks.

"You get quite famous when you win a battle against someone like Kid Darkness." Jacob says, smiling. Then the ticks walk up to us.

"Moose, these are the ticks. Watch out because they're crazy. The ticks are three brothers." I inform Moose.

After I've introduced Moose to everyone, we walk to the table where most of the crew is to show them the battle.

"Wow. Nobody's ever battled and won against the Samurai and got it on tape!" One of the ticks say.

"Wait, the Samu-who?" Moose asks.

"The Samurai. They never lose." The ticks say.

"You think they're just gonna let you go like that?" I hear Carlos say. "They're gonna find you and they'll battle you again." He finishes.

"Wait, what do you mean, they're gonna find me?" Moose asks, confused. Luke walks over to the survailence cameras for the club we own, downstairs. He's been doing that every night for the past week.

"You know. They have internet now. They have GPS's. People can track you down." The ticks reply.

"Okay guys." Luke says, coming back to the table. "Stop scaring him. He's already had a rough day. Come on, Moose. I'll show you the club downstairs." Luke says.

"I'll come with you guys." I say. When we get to the club, my brother speaks up.

"Show Moose around, Asha. I'll be back." He says. When Luke walks away, I turn to Moose.

"You go look around and check the club out. I'm gonna go battle." I say. "I battle every time I'm here, which is a lot of the time."

"Do you win?" Moose asks. I just smile. "I never lose." I say, walking to the dance floor.

Moose's POV

Asha just went to battle. I walk around for a while and go to the toilet. When I'm walking there, I hear footsteps behind me. I turn around, but no one's there. I walk into the toilet. When I'm finished what I'm doing, I see someone with speakers on their vest.

"Nobody battles the Samurai just once." He says. I start backing up as more of the Samurai start crowding me.

"What? Now he's scared?" One of them says. Music starts playing and they start dancing while the guy with the speakers jacket blocks the exit. I run to the toilet cubicles and swing on the bars above, twice, and jump off, trying to run out.

"Where you going?" Speaker guy says. "We ain't done yet!" He says, pushing me back. I start dancing on the sinks and spray speaker guy in the face with water. "Hey!" He says and wipes his face. While his eyes are closed I run outside. I slip and fall over and Jacob and Carlos pull me up. Luke stands in front of me as the Samurai start dancing. When they're done, they walk up to us. Kid Darkness points to me but Carlos pushes his hand down.

"Look, I just want a few rounds with the kid." Kid Darkness says.

"Yeah well if you want to get to him, you got to go through us." Luke says.

"Luke!" A voice calls from the back of the group. The person walks to the front.

"What do you want, Julian?" Luke says.

"We want to battle the kid. I don't know how he won against Kid Darkness here. Your boy can't even finish his moves. Bubbles and balloons? Really? That's so amateur." Julian says. "He can't finish his battles." He finishes.

"Look, man. He will finish it at the World Jam and so will we." One of the twins say.

"I don't even know what you just said man. Stop speaking jibberish." Julian says.

"Stop being disrespectful to my crew, man." Carlos says and shoves Julian. Then everyone starts shouting and shoving people. Asha grabs my arm and we rush out of there.

Luke's POV

I see the girl that I came down here for, being pushed around by people and she can't get out. I go up to her and get her arm. "I'll get you out of here." She comes with me and I lead her into a photobooth. It starts taking pictures of us every ten seconds.

"What's your name?" I ask her.

"My name's Natalie." She says.

"So what's with the bags, Natalie? I'm Luke by the way." I say.

"A friend was meant to meet me here. I guess she was a no show." She says.

"Well you can stay here." I say.

"What, in the club?" Natalie asks.

"No. Upstairs." I say.

"You don't even know me." She tells me, smiling a bit.

"I know that your name is Natalie and you need a place to stay." I say.

"Ok. Ok, yeah. Thanks." She says and we go upstairs. When she's settled in, I ask her a question.

"So are you ready?" I ask her.

"For bed?" She asks, smiling.

"For the World Jam. We could really use someone like you." I say.

"Okay. I guess I can join your crew. I love battling. It's what I live for." She says.

"And do you win?" I ask.

"I never lose."

"Just like my younger sister. She's never lost a battle. Get some sleep okay?" I say and I head to bed.
