This story has been my brainchild since grade 4 when one of my islamophobe classmate told me that while Hindus write the story of the Muslims, the Muslim authors are too arrogant to do so. I wanted to shut him up but I could remember no name that could contradict his sentence. That day, I resolved to write a story based on the Hindus and honor the Indian traditions and cultures in it. This was how the first draft of 1960 was born.

Over the years, the idea took various forms until in grade 9, I decided to pen down the skeleton story. Fast forward a year- in grade 10, one of my favorite teachers asked me to submit a story for the school magazine and I decided to give 1960 a try.

While my story didn't make it to the epoch due to its length, my teacher loved the story and asked me to write it down nicely in a book and give it to her. This, the first manuscript of 1960 was written (in Hindi, for she was a Hindi teacher).
A year later, it made its debut as an English Novel in Wattpad.

Today, when I see the love and acclaim, this story had garnered in less than a year, I couldn't help but smile. I never thought it was so good as to deserve all the readership, votes and comments it got.

So, thank you, dear readers, for giving a chance to this book; for embarking on this journey with Meera, Rahul, Natasha, and Rishabh; for crying and laughing with them; for recommending it to others and most importantly, for believing in it.

A special thanks to these amazing people who helped me in their own ways to make this story what it is today, and to make me feel confident in my writing.
