People should understand the concept of 9S's details and emotions throughout the game instead of being ignorant(as I said, this game felt more of a literature meanings) thinking why he's a "bad character." I mean it's anyone's opinion no matter what.
Every story won't have a character that is an ideal of "perfect". This is the reason why flaws are created in any stories we read in a book, watch shows, and play a game. It's the creator's decision turning a story into a true masterpiece or garbage.
Maybe watching this video of 9S analysis could have change their minds, but I doubt they would understand.
