dear people
who expect too much
from life,
stop reading!

dear people
who expect too much,
dear overachievers,
please
do me a favour
and
STOP
READING.

this isn't a poem
to motivate or inspire;
to help people reach
high cliffs
or dive deep into
success.

This isn't a poem
promising good times
it isn't based on hope
or faith or destiny.

No,
this is a poem
for me.
A me who is ordinary
and no more so.

I am not a star.
My story is not one to be
narrated for eons to come.
I haven't persisted, persevered or reached
extraordinary levels of perfection.

No, i am just... me.
And this is a poem for me.

A me who is happy with who she is
an ordinary daffodil
in my own world
and making the most of it.

A me who hasn't seen more
than what i have been shown
who haven't felt deeper than
the person next to me
who hasn't heard tales
of destruction and dreams alike.

But is still
happy
honest
hard working
human being.

What more do you want from life?
what more can you get?
There are simple pleasures, ofc.
In being just ordinary!
