I support her against me as she gasps for air, the reality not yet hit me.

Matsuda appears beside me, trying to get some response out of her.

"Someone, call and ambulance!" I hear a shout.

L places a hand on my shoulder. "Kira," he says bitterly.

But how?

I feel panicked and my throat becomes horribly tight.

I glance shakily over at Light. He stands rigidly, his strange demeanour could easily be mistook for shock or panic.

The death note is clutched in his hand.

"Naomi?" I whisper, leaning close to her flickering eyes.

She murmurs something under her breath.

"No," Matsuda takes her hand. "No, please don't go!" he begs.

"I'm sorry..." Naomi breathes, her voice strained. "Sorry..."

I stare blankly, unable to comprehend what's just happened. My breathing is rushed and sharp, and I can only see the scene infant of me as if it's in a picture. It doesn't feel real. How could I have underestimated Light? Kira...? This is all my fault.

It's a wrenching feeling in my gut that finally allows me to cry out, "Naomi!"

I watch the rain.

I never realised how tall this building was... or how cold it feels at night.

The droplets reflect the orange city glow, and the beads of light trickle one by one to their destination.
